Missing Exterior Panel/Cover/Door

Hello! I searched the forums, but I'm not sure what this thing is called that we are missing . It's the pop-in panel that covers the workings for the fridge and maybe for the water pump? This is a 1996 T-2670 Solaris TT that we have in storage, and it seems like that piece blew off in a storm and I'd like to replace it ASAP. In the meantime we've duct taped plastic over the hole but obviously don't want to take it out like that. Thanks in advance for any info!

The cover is called "Refrigerator vent - Lower side wall".

I bought one last year to repair a friends camper. I had to buy the entire cover and outer mounting flange as I could not find just the cover for sale.

See here where I bought mine. A local RV dealer may have one, or search for the Dometic part number.
Dometic 3109350.011 Refrigerator Vent - Lower Sidewall Vent, Polar White

https://www.amazon.com/Dometic-31093...omotive&sr=1-2

Heads up, I know the above part is what is on a 2004 to 2007 Sunline. I do not know if your 1996 is exactly the same. They list dimensions on that link, but I am not sure if that is the framed out hole in the side of the camper or just the removable door. Check yours.

If needed, I can measure one of may project campers that is apart to confirm, just let me know if you need it.

Another heads up. Dometic's quality has seemed to go down hill on parts in recent years. They must be outsourcing them or something. The quality of the new part I am putting on it not the same as the old one I'm taking off that is very good. I had to change the entire flange in the camper to get the new cover to fit. The molded corners on the removable door where not exactly the same and would not fit into the old mounting flange. Yours may not have that issue, I'm just mentioning it.

If you need to change the mounting flange, post back you are doing so and I will pass on some tips on the mounting of it.

Hope this helps

John

I lost mine on a trip last year. Called camper world and they didn't stock it. Stopped by a General RV along express way and the parts guy came out and matched door to what I had.

Thanks so much, it looks like we may need to replace the whole thing but I'm having trouble figuring out the sizing so if there's a way to see how they measure that I would very much appreciate it! We did go out and measure it but I'm not sure that this seems to line up with anything I'm seeing online. This looks like it would be about 23in wide from the outer edge of the frame and 15 in tall.

i would love to have someone just take a look at it but unfortunately, we are kind of remote and don't have many options close by.

I believe this is what your looking for. Outside frame is 23.2x15.2x1.2".

Hi,

On Saturday I have a camper all apart and can measure the rough opening, the outer removable door and the outside dimensions to confirm what Jim and I are showing what Dometic 3109350.011 measures and will post with pics.

Then you can measure your rough opening, the removable door and the outside dimensions to make sure it will fit. Then we can go from there.

I'll be back with them Sat or Sun night.

John

Hi Xoxosmo,

This should help you confirm your missing fridge vent cover.

I have 2 of these covers, complete with the frames to compare. I have all the dimensions of these, but I think these below will help you confirm if Dometic part number 3109350.011 Refrigerator Vent - Lower Sidewall Vent, Polar White is what you need to order. All these dimensions and pics are of that part number.

This picture shows the cover mounting frame. I figured this method may help better as you can measure yours on the inside where the cover inserts into the frame. It is a nice square side and the inside matters more than the outside of the frame.

The frame in the top of the picture, I bought last year new (2019) as a replacement, the frame in bottom of the pic is from 2003 off one of my 2004 project campers I am working on.

Here is the label off one of the covers I have. This is off a 2007 Sunline, but the same number as off of my 2004 Sunline.

The inside horizontal width of the frame where the cover mounts, measures the same on the 2019 new frame and my old 2003 frame. 21 3/16"

The vertical height of the frame where the cover mounts measures the same on the 2019 new frame and my old 2003 frame. 13 3/16"

The mounting frame has not changed very much, if any between 2003 and 2019, so the door cover should be the same.

If the inside of your frame measures where the cover mounts with these two dimensions above within approx. +/- 1/32", then there are high odds you have Dometic 3109350.011 vent cover, the one Jim mentioned and the one I linked you too on Amazon. You can search other places for that same part number if wanted.

As FYI, the outside of the actual vent cover that fits inside the actual frame, measures, 21 1/8" wide x 13 1/16" tall. This is the part you are missing.

Hope this helps and let us know if you need more.
John

Hi Sarah,

You are very welcome. We Sunline'ers are a good bunch of folks and glad to help. As is most any camper person in general.

As an FYI, you will end up with a new mounting flange that will be pristine white! Your older frame looks to have yellowed some, the older ones yellowed more than the newer ones.

If you decide to change the outer mounting flange to make the colors match better, let's talk first before taking out the old and installing the new. It is not that hard to do, but there are a few tricks to help you and understand the needs so the mounting flange is true square and straight to accept the vent cover. I'll explain more if that times comes.

Happy camping this year.

John

One additional thought. When ordering new vent cover and frame. Also order the bug screens that mount inside the louvers. They work. A few years ago while inspecting a friends refrigerator we pulled the door off and found a yellow jacket nest. Surprise.
While you're at it inspect the drain tube. With age they become brittle and break off allowing water from refrigerator drain onto refrigerator compartment.

Jim and John, thanks again for your guidance! The new cover wasn't perfectly square to the existing flange but we just filed it down about a millimeter on one corner and it snapped in. Luckily looks like we have no issues yet with the drain but will keep an eye on it. All the best, happy camping!

Missing Exterior Panel/Cover/Door

I would like to thank you all for posting this information. Last summer I acquired a 1985 Sunline T-1661 camper that was advertised on this site. It
is missing this exterior panel/ cover and has some water damage. The opening is the same size as the one mentioned. Now I know where to get a replacement cover. I will ask about the water damage in another thread.

Fred
