Leak!

Driping bathroom faucet. More like the line that we didn't find for 7 hours overnight. The inside of the sink cabinet was wet, extending out around the edge of the shower floor. Couldn't hear it until we were outside, then saw a steady line of water coming down. Thinking soaked insulation. Bathroom sits at the rear and sits low as it is a late model, 1985 t1661.
What to do...safely?

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your leak. First and foremost, if you have not already, shut down the water system until the leak can be repaired/stopped.

Do you know yet where the leak is? Can you see it? From your note, it sounds like it may be a water line under the counter. Is the leak at the fitting where the water line screws onto the faucet?

Pictures here help us help you in these cases. Take pictures of the leak location or where you think the leak is and a few pictures of the general area. A prior owner may have altered something from the original. Sunline also used a few variations of piping. We can help better when we know exactly what you are up against.

A somewhat traditional faucet leak problem can be the rubber cone washer/gasket in the swivel fittings that screw onto the bottom of the faucet. They get dried up over time, crack, and then leak. But, again, I don't know if yours was changed or what vintage of piping Sunline was used in 1985. Your piping may be gray in color, which is the prior Polybutylene piping before they changed to PEX. Both look similar but have different dimensions in some cases.

Mop or wipe up the water on the floor and open the cabinet doors. A fan blowing helps dry out the area faster.

You mentioned wet insulation, yes they may have happened. That is a bigger topic to deal with. Look under the camper and look up at the bottom of the camper floor. Is there a metal cover or a plastic black tarp-looking material? Which one do you have? Again, pictures help.

The shower area: I'm not sure what your exact shower looks like, but most have a small access panel that can be removed to access the drain trap. Find yours, take the panel off, and, with a flashlight, look inside if it is all wet on the floor.

A last question: Were you on city water hooked up to the camper or using the water pump and fresh tank when the leak happened?

Give us some more to go on, and we can try to help you better with what you might be able to do.

Hope this helps.

John

If you need help posting pics, there are 3 ways to add pics.

1. Upload pics to a specific post, attaching them at the end of the post.

2. Linking them in from a public viewable web photo hosting service you have.

See here for 1 and 2 https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...html#post86041

3. You can upload pics to the forum in your own personal photo album. Then link them to anywhere in the text of a post. See here on how to create an album. https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...html#post87945

If you still get stuck, let us know. Pic's go a long way in helping show things you are working on, and we really like seeing Sunline pics!

Hope this helps

John
