Kitchen Sink

My wife would like to know if the Kitchen sink is easy to scratch or do we need to protect it with a rubber mat or something. Any thoughts.

We purchased a small plastic dishpan and drying rack which fit inside the two sinks. They take the abuse; not the built-in sinks. If a hot pot or utensil is accidently placed in the dishpan before it cools, you don't ruin your sink.

I believe the sink is "acrylic", which is to say it's plastic not stainless steel or porcelain. We use ours as is, carefully, but it does scratch. Avoid dropping cutlery and swishing it around. The sink is also a bit small and more likely to scratch when washing typical metal cooking pots and pans. We wipe them clean with paper towel if possible--keeps the holding tank cleaner too--pre soak them, and if they need scrubbing use a stand alone dish pan which is larger than the sink.

When we wash dishes, the pots and pans or anything of large size gets washed at the outside shower. Quite handy.
