I neeed to replace the battery

The battery on my TT is the original and last season I noticed that is wasn't holding a charge anymore. What should I look for?

If you want to stick with a single 12 VDC battery, you'll need a deep cycle, marine/rv battery. I would suggest you get the largest capacity one available that will fit your existing battery case and that your budget will allow. Brands? Sears Die-Hards have always been reliable. Optima gets really good reviews. There are a number of other good ones on the market. Part of that choice may be what is conveniently available within a short drive. You could travel all over the place, and only save a couple of dollars on something like this. You are much better off ($$$) getting a replacement through an auto parts type outlet than an rv or marine dealer. Same batteries, different prices.

If your budget allows, now might be the time to consider upgrading to two (or four) 6 VDC golf car batteries. Lots of folks recommend this, but there is a price tag that goes with it.

Here are some discussion threads from sunlineclub.com that I found by searching on "batteries" (without the quotes.) Included are several that have info and links regarding switching to 6 VDC batteries.

www.rvnet.net also has some good threads on the topic.

If/when I replace mine, I'm replacing it with an Optima RV/Marine. Yes, they cost a little more, but no water, no worries.

We have one right now on another trailer and it's been trouble and maintenance free for the entire year we've had it. Put it in and it hasn't come back out of the battery box since. It's had the battery tender on it all winter.

We got ours at Costco.
