Hot Water Heater Gas Valve

Hi,

Has anyone ever replaced the hot water heater gas valve on their trailer? I need to replace mine and need some advice.

Thanks,

It sounds like you have the older all gas valve control system. I have not had one of those older ones off. I have had the newer ones with electronic ignition.

Looks like this, just I'm doing a tank flush in this pic

I'm assuming your question may stem from how to get the sensing unit out to unscrew out of the tank?

Hi,

OK you have the older all gas unit. They work well too.

What is the question?

There is a full service manual on your model here, scroll down to Atwood water heater and view the part of the manual that applies to the gas pilot version.

Service Documents and Manuals

Hope this helps

John

Basically it just screws in be sure to mark the air mix screw placement so you can get it back in the same spot. What's wrong with it? The lever at the back is the temp control if it's too hot or cold that is adjustable if it won't stay lit it most likely is the thermocouple.

I miss that temp control since my current Sunny has electronic ignition. Don't miss messing with the pilot in the middle of a rainy night setting up camp though.

Ok I found a replacement control unit on Kijiji. On my old unit I felt that the knob was loose so I tried to tighten it and twisted the screw off. Stupid mistake. Hope the install goes ok. Ill post pics.
