Question Grey Water tank level sensors

Just purchased a 2006 T1950 in excellant shape except for the above.

With my grey tank empty the panel still shows 3/4 full. The manual says this maybe due to corrosion buildup? Is there a fix, does it go away with use? I've checked the wiring visually and don't see a problem. I haven't taken the test panel apart yet, didn't want to ruin the assembly. I could use an ohmeter but thought I would ask the experts first.

Congrats on your new camper! I have the same one except '04. We love it.

I believe you need to remove the sensors from the tank itself, and clean them. I haven't done this, although I need to. Hold off on pulling that panel, I doubt that is your issue. One of the experts will chime in soon, I'm sure.

Hi Doken

Congrats on your new camper and welcome to Sunline Owners Club

Gray tank sensors, yes they can get scum on them inside and then make a connection and give a false reading.

I would not take the sensors out to clean as only a last, last resort. Odds are in your favor the entire tanks is scummed up.

The 1st simple thing to do is use it!. There is no harm to the camper not reading right. It might and might not go away on it's own.

If it needs help, try this product. Happy Camper - Odorless Holding Tank Treatment Black and Grey Water

Look for the extreme clean product. You put some in the tank, (mix in water and pour down drain,) then fill the tank with water until it comes up in the shower. This cleans the top of the tank too. Let it sit overnight or longer and then drain and rinse. It will naturally eat off the scum. You can even do this at the camp ground the day beofre you head to the dump station.

There are other products out there that clean sensors but this one works with my septic system at home. I also use it in the house to clean out slow running drains

Hope this helps

John

Only place now I could find for the Extreme was in Canada. ArrKannRv.com My gray tank is empty and reads 3/4 full. Hopefully with 1/2 tank and agitation it'll work. Most all places in the states are out of stock. Even Happycampers doesn't list the extreme.

Another effective method is ice cubes and some water and go for a ride with your camper. Might as well do both tanks at the same time.
