Fuse Panel Light Illuminated - what does it mean?

The top light is illuminated on the fuse panel in the 2006 T-2675 that we purchased last fall. What does this mean? Is it an error condition? Does the fuse beside it need to be replaced?

I hope my picture uploads correctly...

We discovered that the second fuse from the top is shorted. We just had the Dometic fridge recall kit installed. Taking it back to the RV repair shop tomorrow.

Yes, the WFCO's have a red light blown fuse indicator.

Let us know what you find out if the recall install was part of the problem. That should not have created a short but if they had a bare exposed wire somehow, it may have. One never knows...

John,
I have the same converter, but only have one 40 amp fuse installed. I noticed OP has two. Is there a reason or is one an extra?

Jim,

First I'm assuming this is a WFCO 8900 series converter. 55 amp. I cannot totally read the model number in Mary's pic. I think is says WF-8955

According to the WFCO manual, See here, those 2 orange fuses are reversed polarity fuses. They show both should be there.

The manual
http://wfcoelectronics.com/wp-conten...ors-Manual.pdf

A brochure
http://wfcoelectronics.com/wp-conten...th-space-1.pdf

The install directions
http://wfcoelectronics.com/wp-conten...ion-Manual.pdf

Since you only have one fuse now and things seem to be working, I am taking a "wild guess", the prior owner may have hooked the battery up backwards once and blew one of the fuses out. If it blew out on the DC negative fuse, well the unit still may be able to get a path to DC negative through other means and still work. However it may not have the same protection against reversed battery hook up like it would with 2 fuses

I would have to look at the circuit board to see how they wired it to confirm my "wild guess" is correct or not. I would not think they put all the documentation together showing and calling out 2 reverse polarity fuses if one was a spare.

Hope this helps

John

Update: Problem resolved. We took the unit back to the RV shop that did the recall. They fixed it within a few minutes. They didn't indicate the exact issue but did the repair with no charge. They also gave us the suggestion of holding down / tying down the fresh water fill hose to resolve the issue with leaks when trying to fill the fresh water tank.

The RV shop is RV Value Mart in Manheim Pennsylvania. Although they made an error on the Dometic recall, we are still very pleased with them. Their attentiveness is especially appreciated.

Thanks for reporting back. Good to know even though we do not have details what they corrected.

Glad to hear they resolved everything. I've watched RV Value Mart, at least the Lititz location, grow up over the years from just a small Facebook based business to a pretty legit dealer, so I'm glad they do good work.

That said, Stoltzfus in Adamstown is the place to take a Sunline in your area, they know them really well.

Yes, I am a bit bummed that they didn't tell us what happened. It was fixed very quickly...less than ten minutes. They were so customer centric...they saw Preston driving into their crowded lot and immediately sent someone out to do the repair.

Interesting thing about Stoltzfus in Adamstown...they wouldn't do the recall because we didn't buy it there. However, they were instrumental in us discovering the Sunline brand. Lee showed us one last fall. It was in great condition with an excellent price but just didn't have enough storage for us to travel in it long term. That's when we discovered the brand and the toy haulers. We bought our 2006 T-2675 from the original owners in Michigan last fall. I'm sure Lee would have helped us get into the service queue. We didn't push it because we had a lot going on and the RV Value Mart location in Manheim is also easily accessible for us. If we end up with Sunline-specific issues, Stoltzfus will be at the top of our list.

I see that RV Value Mart also now has a location on 322 west of Ephrata. The location used to be Martin's RV. It's a small location but it's definitely a good sign that they're expanding. I have been greatly impressed with their customer service so far. I realize we could be irritated about the issue with the short after the Dometic recall work...but great customer service goes a long way.

That is good news about RV Value Mart because 3 years ago before I retired as a RV Tech they were the last place to go for service or sales. There are a lot of places out there who will not do recall or warranty work if you did not buy from them. Most times it is because the further out you get on recalls the less they pay you to do them and sometimes it gets to the point you get paid less than it costs to do them. Just bought a FR3 motor home from Lee at Stoltzfus Rv and he is top notch. I have heard anything bad about their service department. If RV Value Mart can't help you with anything 5 more minutes north on 72 on the right is Sycamore Hill RV under new owner for over a year and that is where I sent all the customers from where I had worked after stopping in and talking with the new owner Jim. By the way I live just up the road from you close to the TV towers. We also meet a lot of Sunline owners when we Camp Host at Pine Grove Furnace State Park.

I passed along the kind words to Lee and Stoltzfus RV when I was there for a part yesterday. I think his head swelled so much that he may have had a hard time getting through the door to go home last night.

Haha thanks for passing along the kind words. It's been almost 20 years since I stepped in the door of Stoltzfus, but I had the pleasure of meeting Lee at Buttonwood many years ago. I agree, he probably could have gotten you in for service if you needed, seeing as you had some pretty specific Sunline requirements that are hard for them to meet. There weren't a ton of Tran-sports made, and there aren't many around SE PA.
