furnace question and cabinet door request

Testing my furnace prior to a camping trip to the Poconos this weekend, and it would not start up. Took off the exterior panel and, lo and behold, there was a new Dinosaur board in there. Good for me, I guess. Saw two wires going to a on/off rocker switch. Jiggled them and blower fired up and all was right with the world. Must have a loose wire there. My question is: What is the rocker switch for? My friend thought it was for working on the unit, like the e-switch on a home furnace.

Next, I would like to replace three of my screw-on access doors with hinged cabinet doors for ease of access to pump, hot water heater bypass, and shower plumbing (least priority). Openings are 14Hx12W, 14Hx8W, and 6Hx11W. Need dark brown doors +1" on each of those measurements. Anybody parting out or know where to get doors that are a close match to my 257sr?

Add on no clue. They did not have service switch. Maybe it was a fix for the old defective board.

Jim,

The newer Hydrotherm furnaces have the on/off rocker switch. Looks like this.

As to what it does, it shuts down the 12 VDC going to the furnace.

As to why is it there, I 100% do not know what Atwood had in mind when they added it. It is a easy way to kill power to the furnace if you happen to be working on it or you want to disable it for some reason. You have to pull the cover off to get to it. It for sure was not intended to be used as part of the normal camping to disable the furnace buried behind that cover.

Also notice, there is a 10 amp circuit breaker there with a reset button on it.

Your prior 2004 model camper had this same setup.

Hope this helps

John

PS as to the doors, if you cannot find one some members have taken a door off and took it to a local cabinet maker and they reproduced them. Just give them your new dimensions and make it like the style you bring in. Custom color stains can now be made too to match at your local paint stores. I had a quart made up of the maple color in our camper. So if they only do the wood works and not the stain, you can create the stain and top coat.

Or you can make them yourself if you have the tools to do so. I did make a few myself for our T310SR. We however have more of the square shaker style doors and it is easier to cut them with a table saw and dado. Did not need a fancy router bit like I think the 2007 campers now use with a lot of curves in them. Here is how I made some of them. I can't find the post where I made one for over the bed to gain access to the center of the cabinets. http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...ade-14938.html

Thanks, John. Not sure if mine has the circuit breaker. Once it fired, I didn't mess with it further. That's for after the season.

Hi Jim,

Your furnace is new enough it should have the circuit breaker. Next time you are in there, you will see it next to the rocker switch.

Thanks

John
