Unhappy Furnace Issue-1987 Solaris..need help

I purchased this 1987 Sunline Solaris, after getting it home, I decided to start the furnace, GREAT.. it lit and the heat was fantastic.... the next day when returning to the trailer, I once again decided to start furnace as it was quite cold here in Maine(in Feb) the blower came on, but it would not light, then after awhile I decided to see if the stove top would work, it did, then the fridge, when I pushed the button for the fridge, the furnace started! Since then I cannot get the furnce to run, it has a full bottle of LP.. Any Ideas? At my witts end.. please help?!!

Sounds like you either had a little air in the line from when you filled the tank or the internal parts of the furnace are just dirty. If it does it again, you'll probably need to pull it apart and clean it. At this point, the typical test for air is to light the stove, which you did, and then it worked. I think you just purged the air out of the line.

I don't think it matters whether the furnace is level or not to work. The refrigerator, yes, but not the furnace. Sometimes they are mounted vertically too, so they must be ok unlevel.

It could also be a bad regulator. If the furnace isn't getting LP at or near the proper pressure, it might not light.

John Barca did a great post about testing the LP system... That post is HERE

There is another thing you might try all though the fan runs it may not be turning fast enough. There is a gadget called a sail switch and it is instrumental in the opening of the gas valve if the battery is low it might not let the fan turn fast enough to close the sail switch. I would suggest plugging it in and see what happens that will give you enough voltage to run the fan full tilt.

Yes, I agree, Was just going to suggest this but mainah got to you first. A run down battery will just blow cold air.

If you are still having issue can you find the model number of the furnace? These older ones I have to look up to find exactly what it is you have

Thanks to everyone for your replies, greatly appreciated! I went out this a.m. and tried it, the fan came on, I then shut it off and back on quickly and it ignited.. don't know why! I am not using the battery, I have it hooked to electricity, so the voltage isn't the issue.. (Think, it's being INDEPENDENT!!) LOL!!

The old igniter boards are finicky they only try once to light and then go into blow cold air mode. Just about ever RV type thing I have owned I have had to replace the boards and have all ways used Dinosaur replacement boards they are the hot lick (yeah that was bad) they are very nicely made and will make 3 attempts to light before they give up and I understand the newest version even turns off the fan if it does not light. So if you continue to have problems I would replace the board.
