Fridge fin fan from ebay

I bought a fridge fin fan for our RM2852, off ebay and finally "Installed" it today. Since a pic is worth a thousand words, here's the pic from the listing:

Clicking on the pic, will take you to the ebay listing...

The "Installation" consisted of routing the positive wire to the light and putting the wire inside the positive spade connector, for the light. To both ground the unit AND mount it, there's a green alligator clip at the back. The alligator clip grabs one of the fins and there's your ground, as well as the mounting point.

It'll do, until we get back to civilization. I'll re-engineer the mounting system. I do like the concept though... NO batteries!

They tell you to "Find another source of DC power"

I guess you would have to either drill a hole, or run the wire through the door seal.

I assume the purpose of the fans is to move cold air. How much power do they draw?

Thank you

There is a "hot" wire inside the fridge behind the light door switch. Then you can have the door light and the fridge fan. You will need to put a switch on it too as it is "hot".

I have 2, 12VDC computer muffin fans I was going to mount inside but never made it to it yet.

However I will say this, the outside roof vent fan in the fridge chimney is worth all it is cracked up to be. That takes the fridge down to a good 33F and 32 F about twice as fast as usual and helps keep it there better on very hot days outside.

John,

I did tap into the red wire, going to the inside light. I did not put a switch on it, as I want it to run 24/7. Or, at least while there is 12v in the camper... (ie: MOST all the time!)

We also bought the Camco solar fridge vent cover. Since it's most needed, during the hottest part of the day. I will take proper temperature readings and add a 12v "Muffin" fan, if I feel it necessary (But you know I will do it anyway!)

They draw VERY LITTLE power.
The counter above the refg. got very warm.
I installed a computer fan outside the fins (pulling air out away from the fins) with a switch next to the refg. When I turn it on the counter stays cool....
I use it all the time in warm weather.
