Yes, do you mean the plastic turn knob drain cock? Post a pic.
Does your look like this?
https://www.amazon.com/Camco-22223-D...s%2C200&sr=8-2
If it does, overtime they become brittle from the sun and start to crack or the handle binds up and you twist the little lever off.
Hope this helps
John

I went a different way when I replaced mine. I increased the drain line size to 1/2 in pex, added ball valve inside rv, and installed a brass exterior angle drain. Im an hvac plumber, so I wanted a faster drain (for cleaning and draining tank), a cleanout port inside to brush line, an inside ball valve for some limited cooler weather camping, and a fitting setup outside that wouldn't fall apart from sun/uv. Ill post some pics. Very happy with the end result.

Unless it's broken already, lubricate it with a drop of oil and clean out the nozzle with a Qtip. You'll get more life out of it.

Love the idea of 1/2" pex drain line! That slow draining when sanitizing is absolutely maddening. Looking forward to seeing the pics to attempt some of those mods.

Rv water tank drain
I made the outside brass fitting by soldering pex adapter to 1/2 in flange elbow. Added 1/2 female adapter so I can put hose adapter and drain hose. Inside stuff was pretty straight forward.

My fresh water tank and drain line in the 257sr is mounted exterior under the rv. It would be much easier for me to enlarge the drain line since I have easy access. Something to think about.

I remember how slow the tank drained. My Grand Design has a 2" drain. I can drain 60 gals of water in about 2 minutes.

Not sure all the newer Sunlines with the tank under the camper had this low point pocket on it. I know the 2004's and the 2005's at least had it.
My original T2499 tank drain had the same mini plastic shutoff that took way to long to drain a full tank of sanitizing water out of it. Sunline had the drain line in the lower bottom pocket and the pump suction line in the side threaded hole about 1" up from the bottom of the tank.
Since we boondock and use the onboard fresh tanks a lot, we want to use every last drop of water in the tank. We found the side tap would suck air above the water line and the pump loose prime. That left several gallons of non usable water in the tank.
I always either fill from home on fresh water or filter every ounce of water that goes into our fresh tank when filling from a campground. So I addressed the slow drain and the lack of being able to use all the water in one piping redo. See the pics
The old side pump suction port was pipe plugged off. (the brass plug on the right of the tank side) The pump suction line now tee's into the low point sump on the tank. And the 1/2" drain line also ties in. I can now pump the tank down to about the last quart of water in it before the pump looses prime. And the water drains a whole lot faster. I did this same upgrade on our T310SR.

Oh my! Holy cow....
A 2" drain? Does it have a slide valve shut off like a dump valve? It must be like a gusher coming out.
Yes, on a 60 gallon tank, the little plastic 1/4 turn jobber might take 24 hours to drain it...

Yes, it's the same as a dump valve, only white. When you pull the handle, you better move quick or you're going to get wet.

Wow, that must be a gusher with a 1/2 or full tank. Did they just terminate the valve below the tank and the water fly straight down to the ground in a 2" solid slug of water? Does it sort of fly all over and bounce back up onto the camper?
Even a 1" full port ball valve would be a mega upgrade over what ever comes normally on a camper, a 2" hole is sort of unimaginable.

Yes John it's a straight shot out of the bottom of the tank.

Thanks for the pic Mike. Gee, they make you reach way under the camper to get to it too. Sunline has a long pipe handle on my black and gray tank handles so you and pull them at the side of the frame verses climbing under.
They use a piece of stainless tubing. Thread on the ID for the valve and threads on the OD for the handle. The Coroplast cover is off some of these pics.
I did add a jam nut to this "after" the rod extension unscrewed once
Just passing along in case you want to make a mod for the pull handle and not get so wet when pulling it.
Thanks
John
