Folding couch/bed in my Sunnie!

In my 2002 Solaris, I would like to remove the couch cushions. First I want to clean behind and under it. Second I think I would like to recover them. They are just a little tired.

The couch works great, it folds easily into a bed, and back to a couch. NO problem there. But for the life of me, I am not finding a good way to remove the cushions.

Anyone else worked with this? Any help or hints would be very welcome.

Thank you!

What model 2002 Sunline do you have?

By chance, is this it? This is what we call a "jack knife sofa". It would look like this. It folds flat into a bed.

If this is what yours looks like, then this is how the cushions come off.

Partly fold the couch. Meaning like about 1/2 way down. Then look under the couch and on the ends you will see hex nuts. 2 nuts on each end of the bottom cushion. They take a 9/16" wrench if I recall right. By removing those 4 nuts, the entire bottom will come off and look like this.

To do the back cushion, it is held on the same way. Take the bottom off first, then reach up and take the nuts on the ends and it will come off.

Be careful of the spring loaded frame. It likes to pinch fingers if you are not watching. A helper holding the cushion while you are getting the nuts off helps as they can hold the spring system by holding the other cushion.

Hope this helps. If this is not your couch, try and post pictures so we know which one you are talking about. Sunline used a few coaches over the years pending which floor plan model you have.

John

Thumbs up Jack Knife Couch!

Good Morning.

That is a new term for me. I did attach a couple of pictures. Hope this helps. Mine does not have the piece of wood under it. There is all kinds of plumbing for water, electric and heating under it. Also need to clean the duct work for the furnace while I am at it.

We are really liking our Sunny. My wife is active duty Navy and we have rented our home in Minnesota and use the Sunny as a place to stay when we are up visiting family or vacationing.

Sounds like what you sent me is right on!

Thanks,
Bruce
