Flooring

I am going to need to tear out and replace the flooring in the bedroom before this camping season starts due to a back roof leak we found last year... I have helped friends do this before in their campers and we have added additional support using metal studs before laying the new floor, but does anyone happen to know if they used 5/8's or 3/4 inch plywood...

It is not plywood, it is OSB.

I know for sure it is not 3/4". It might be 1/2" maybe 5/8". And it may have changed over the years pending the model.

I have a 2004 T-1950 all apart and I will measure the floor in it today and report back.

Thanks, I have a 89' T-2261... I figured I would probably just go with 5/8's... Only doing the bedroom cause the hallway and kitchen/living room were already done prior to us buying the camper... Figured if I went with 5/8's, it would only be an 1/8 inch different at the threshold if they used either 1/2 or 3/4 on the other part, and that could be hidden by a threshold strip...

Here is what I found. This is the floor in a 2004 T-1950

The actual dimension what I found is 0.550" OSB. That could convert to 14mm thickness. It's more than 1/2". And I found you can get 14mm OSB, just maybe not at the local Home Depot etc.

It seems to thin to be the declared 19/32" OSB which is actual 0.570 and it shrunk some over the years.

At that time in 2004, Weyerhaeuser made what was called Structurwood and I seem to recall that was what Sunline used in that time period. They could buy it the full length of the camper, long too, which means it had no seams. That brand Structurwood I believe has now been replaced with the next generation OSB something.

Not really sure what your 89 camper has. But even if you buy 5/8" nowadays, it is not the old 5/8" it's something thinner.

Hope this helps

John
