floor repair t-2370

Looking at a 2002 T-2370 that has been unused for several years. It has the floorplan I am looking for and I can get it for around $2000. The inside is in very good condition, as are the appliances (microwave and oven never used). The only real problem is a very soft section of floor as you enter the rear door by the kitchen. Does anyone know if this is a fairly uncomplicated repair? I don't know how the original floors were put down on the frame. Is it possible to just cut out the bad spot and patch in a new piece of floor? Thanks for your help.

The new units had a 25 year delamination warranty on the floors from Weyerhaeuser. Of course a used one won't have the coverage but if you can make the right contact at Weyerhaeuser in Winston-Salem, NC and talk real nice, you might get direction on repairs from them.

Restoring a Sunline

1. Repairing water damage on your Sunline.

We have had others totally redo the soft floor in their campers. If you are handy with wood working skills this is for sure doable. The real question is, where did the source of the water come from? The soft floor usually points to water some how came in. Depending on how it came in and when will dictate how small or large the repair will be. Try and look up at the wall board for any signs at all of water discoloration. If it came down from above there may be other damage.

Since it is in front of the door it may have come in thru a bad door seal. That would be a good thing maybe as the water entry is localized to down low.

Is this fixable, yes for sure it is. If you can do the work yourself if could be worth it. If you have to hire this out to a RV repair shop this can get very pricey.

The good news is the asking price is on the low end. You will have to add something to it to get it fixed. If you have to hire it out it could end up being more then you paid for the camper if the rot goes up the side walls.

If you really want the unit and can do the work yourself, maybe use that soft spot to see if you can lower the price as much as you can. It will help offset the repair materials.

I guess the basic question is:
Do all Sunline TT have floor joists? This would make it fairly simple to cut out a piece of floor and replace it-much like in a house.

Your vintage should. All is a pretty encompassing word. The newer Que I believe had an aluminum frame sub-floor setup. The real old ones I do not know exactly what they used, I'm sure still wood but it may have been created a bit different.

Sunline Fan our resident historian may know if the early day manufacturing methods changed much.

They were wood as far back as I know, but I don't have much info for '60s and '70s stuff to know either way. I'm just going to say that given the size of the company and the manufacturing methods at the time, it was probably the same wood design. I know the '98 I owned had wood, and I know that real well!
