Fiberglass

Our T2363 has the fiberglass exterior. Does anyone have a favorite wax? All the book says is wax/ polish developed for fiberglass boats showers tubs. I feel it needs a good waxing. Although we bought it in March of this year, it is a 2006 model and I think built in Aug. 2005. Even though we are the first owners, it is really almost two years old. Any suggestions of problems we might need to look at that we may not have thought of??

Thanks for any thoughts and help. Deb

Hi Deb,

I don't really have a recommendation for a good paste wax, but I can recommend a in-between wax. Eagle One's Wax As U Dry is perfect for cleaning off dirt, black streaks, etc. from the fiberglass between waxings. It's simple- just spray on (wet or dry) and wipe off. It's available at many auto supply stores.

Jon,

Thanks for your help. We use a similar spray wax by Meguiar's on our classic cars and it does work great in between the major wax jobs.

Has anyone used Meguiar's Boat and RV cleaner wax?

Deb,

I forgot to mention it before, but I use the Meguiar's Cleaner Wax on my Ex, and my dad and grandpa use it on their old Jag's and regular drivers. I haven't used it on a Sunline, but the results are great on painted cars. I don't know how it would work on fiberglass. The Cleaner Wax I'm talking about is just the regular kind in the red can. It doesn't say Boat or RV on it anywhere. My dad just recently polished up his '71 E-type with the cleaner wax and it looks great. He just put it on with the sponge applicator, took the buffing wheel to it, and wiped the excess off with a terry cloth. He had a problem with it all winter and was working on it, so the paint got very dirty from laying on it, setting stuff on it, etc. The wax made the 18 year old lacquer finish shine like new.

Hi Jon,

Meguiar's has been a great product for us, so I think I'll try their Marine and RV line. We use their Gold Class paste on our 70 Chevelle SS and the 68 Camaro. Glad to hear there are some car guys enjoying Sunline's too.

Thanks for your help,

Deb

One tip for all of us with Fiberglass.

I was reading through an Auto Mag, the other day, and read a tip from a reader that said never to use dish soap to wash your car. I guess the dish soap will remove any wax that you've put on in the past. Seeing as every time I was the vehicle or camper, I ususally grab the soap off the sink, I smacked myself in the forehead giving one of those Homer Simpson "Duh"

Make sure to buy a cleaner made specifically for Auto's or Boat's.

The way I look at it, As long as you do it twice a year, any wax will do.
