eternabond alternative
If you want eternabond and have a local ABC supply store this stuff is the same as eternabond
pricing is very close to eternabond and this stuff actually seams a little more flexible then eternabond

Thanks for the info. However I'm about 2 days late... My box of Eterna Bond just showed up at the house on Monday. I’m on a mission on the roof very soon.
Heads up, when this is applied do NOT use Awesome to clean the rubber roof area before you are applying the Eternabond. I have had a total adhesion failure because of it. Something in the Awesome will deactivate the Miro Sealent. Live and learn, the hard way. On this last order, I ordered the Eterna Clean to prep the roof first. The Eternbond web site says you can use other chemicals but after my negative experience 2 weeks ago, I spent the $$ for there cleaner.
I can attest when the bond is made correct, this stuff is unbelievable. The bond on my slide that I had to take off was 100% stuck on… and then some… I will do up a post once I finish up the Eterna Roof mission.
John

thanks for the heads up John about the awesome because I do use that to clean my roof,my roof is done as far as eternabond goes and I used lacquer thinner for prepping however I'm having a bit of a problem with the white plastic coating letting loose on the adhesive I don't know whats up with that, just been caulking those areas with dicor,I came across the seal fast product and thought I would give it a try on some other areas I want to seal,
I will report back with which product I like best

Once the Eternabond is fully adhered I do not know if the Awesome will affect it. However if your cleaning the surface to apply Eternabond, then do not use the Awesome. I’m sure given enough days of waiting after cleaning with Awesome that what ever reacted with the Micro sealant will be gone, but by then the dirt may be back…
You said you finished up the roof already, did you do the long edges by the gutter? If so how did you wrap it over? From the rubber roof, over the caulk, down the side, over the vinyl and then stuck to the aluminum drip rail inside? That is the only area I have not figured out the best approach on yet.
Thanks
John
PS the white cover coming off the Microsealent, h'mm never saw that or had that problem, yet.

I am just starting to think about my roof, there are some cracks starting to show on the gutter edges and around the vents, so I guess I will redo my roof also this year but I have a tin roof, does the eternabond go down first and then the sealant?

Rich,
Nice find. When I decide to do the 5'ver's seams I will take a look for this one.
With regard to the roof edge seams, I did the roof of my TT a few years ago. I brought the Eternabond to the edge of the roof line and maybe about 1/16 to 1/8 inch over the side into the drip rails. I really didn't get a good adhesion in this are and didn't care for the look of it.I ended up using dicor along the edge of the eternabond where it either didn't adhere properly or where I didn't bring enough over the edge as I wanted to ensure a good seal. I will be watching how you fellas do your edges for a better idea.

I have never done a metal TT roof so I can’t exactly report on that. But I have done Eternabond over aluminum and it works real well.
However if you are thinking of going the Eternabond or Rich’s cool find route I would believe to use the Eternabond first directly to cleaned bare metal. Then if you are going to seal the roof the Eternabond is bonded to the metal not a film of roof sealant. I have done mobile homes roofs with the bruch on fiber materail but they are slightly different as they only travel down the road a few times in there life span.
Hope this helps
John

Rich, yes I agree only going that far may not work well. That was why I was thinking going down to the bottom of a cleaned gutter rail where there is like 3/8" nice flat metal to stick too. The question is do we pull the vinyl strip out or not??
Was hoping Rich solved this and I would not be the ginny pig....

sorry John but no I have not done the side seams yet mostly because of the issue I'm having with the covering releasing from the sealant and I did not want gobs of dicor here and there to keep the white covering down, would not look too good, this weekend I will be working with the new tape and if that works better for me then I will be tackling the side seams on the roof.I will report back with my thoughts on the seal fast tape.for those intersted the cost of the tape was $39.95,I plan on cutting it in half and using 3" strips, they do however make the tape in 3" width but they where sold out of it, the rolls also come in 50ft. lenghts

ok heres the scoop, last weekend I did the vertical seams on my slide with eternabond, cleaned with lacquer thinner, rolled it out and about an hour later I had spots that the eternabond was starting to lift, rolled those areas again and then closed up the slide, today I opened the slide and the eternabond had left loose in many spots so I peeled it all off and it came off easy, then I cleaned the areas again with thinner and applied the seal fast tape rolled it out and all looks great, not even a hint off that coming loose,I must have one of those bad rolls of eternabond that had been mentioned on rv.net(going to give a call to eternabond)but after using both products I'm in much favor of the seal fast tape,it just does a better job when it comes to going over screws or trim or tucking it in corners it just has more flexability and don't wrinkle as easy.I'm sold on the seal fast tape.

Another Eternabond Alternative
Eternabond and Seal-Fast look like great products for RVers. I used H-O Poly-Seal TPO on my Jayco 197 and it solved my leaking problems. You can purchase it directly from H-O at This Link . I think it is less expensive and the neat thing is you can specify any custom width and get a price right on H-O's website.
