Drain tube?

I have a minor leak where the grey water drain tube hooks to the tank. Looks like it has been siliconed silly, plus it looks like it goes up before it goes down. Any suggestions, or just leave it alone?

Thanks!

Frank

If that was mine, and thank goodness it isn't, what I would do is remove that pvc pipe. Get a hole saw, drill out the cracked rotted end at the tank that's been siliconed etc. Make a new fresh whole, probalby 2". Then I would glue a new female end into the tank, using a rubber collar/gasket to make sure it doesn't leak again. After that I would work the pvc back together to the drainage opening.

You should be able to get all that at Lowes for less than $25.00

That upward slanted pipe sure is odd! Does water now run uphill? I wonder if another 1850 owner has a picture of what their's looks like, that doesn't seem standard.

I don't know what the tank on an '83 is made of but mine is ABS and the only thing that will stick to ABS is ABS cement. Mine came with a crack in the grey drain and after a lot of research I used ABS cement from Lowes to fix it. Still looks good as new 8 years later.

Well Gene, it's a 1550, but a pic from another 1550 sure would be of some help. Everything seems to drain okay, but it makes me wonder. I'll see if I can get a more level shot, it may be just the angle.

Thanks!

Frank
