Does the battery power outlets

Hi,

We have a new to us 1997 Sunline Saturn. All things electric work when plugged into constant power (including outlets), but we noticed that the outlets do not work when running on battery power and lights/radio/fridge/hood fan all work when on battery power. We have a 12v outlet (looks like a cig lighter in an auto) that works on battery and constant power. Should reg outlets work on battery power???

Thanks in advance
Mfreebird

Outlets

In a word, NO! The wall outlets are 110 volt only and only work when you are hooked up to shore power. It's that simple.
Enjoy!

Your regular 110vac outlets only work when the trailer is hooked up to a 110vac power source; usually the power post in a campground or a wall outlet of some kind at home.

The 110vac power runs your convertor which puts out 12vdc which in turn charges your battery and helps run the other 12vdc appliances and fixtures. Your fridge and water heater, depending on model, may also optionally run on shore power. If your rig has an air conditioner, it is generally 110vac only.

Unless the trailer has been modified with the addition of an inverter, that's the extent of the interaction between the 12vdc system and the 110vac system. If there is an inverter, it takes 12vdc and produces some 110vac but there's a lot of loss, and unless you have a monster battery system, you're not going to run your AC or water heater on the 110 produced by the inverter.

If you'll use the search function, there are dozens of previous threads discussing these things in great detail. I encourage you to read them over as they will answer 99.9% of your questions.

Thank you both for your responses. I had scoured the manual and did some research on the web, along with looking through 10 - 15 pages of questions here on this forum, but couldn't find a definitive yes or no answer. So thanks again!
