converter replacement

I've got a 2499 with a centurion 3000 converter. If I replace this with a newer model for 3-stage charging (and quieter performance) is it a fairly easy 'plug and play' (only three wires to connect) or do I have to re-do all of those electrical connections to every device in the trailer? Many thanks for the help.

JohnB did a very extensive and informative post in the Modifications forum on his converter replacement project. Check it out.

Don’t know if you found the post Chuck was referring to. Here it is.

JohnB’s converter post

I do not know what year your T2499 was. You said Centurion 3000 which I believe is only a 30 amp unit. I know by the time late 2003 and 2004 came along Sunline went to 60 amp units.

Point for asking is, I do not know if you have the CS3000 or a CS6000 you are trying to upgrade. Do you know the exact model number?

Here is the American Enterprises web site. American Enterpizes

If you have the CS6000, we have had one forum member insert the CS6000XL circuit board and fans into the old housing and keep all the breakers and 12 volt fuses. This sounds like what you wanted to do.

From what I know, I would call American and ask for the technical person. I think there is only one and he may have to call you back. But he did call me back and answered any questions I had.

Have your exact model no. and serial number handy. He can tell from that number exactly what you have and if the upgrade will work. Then they should able to tell you what part number to order. He can switch you back the order lady and she will order any part that is available over the phone.

Good luck and let us know how you make out. Pic’s would be great too.

If you do have the CS6000, then I have a bunch of pic’s to share. The change out if it will fit, is only 4 wires. The AC power feed and the DC + and -.

John
