Cleaning white window rubber

Has anyone found a way to clean what looks like mildew stains from the white rubber trim that goes between the window frame and the glass? I've tried Tilex and a mild abrasive with not much success.

I use acetone on a soft cloth. It dries quickly so you need to work fast. It does a great job on the trim but keep it off of Any painted surfaces. The rubber will look new when your done!

I don't have the white window trim but on the other white trim I use Clorox Kitchen Cleanup With Bleach. Sometimes, just weak bleach works. Spray it on, have a cold one (I like iced tea) and rinse it off. Sometimes hit it with a soft brush before rinsing.

H'mm, OK thanks for the tip. I have done the bleach trick and most times it works but not all the time.

And I 110% agree, do not get the acetone on the white siding. It will melt the Krystal kote in no time flat and soon silver will appear...

Good tip, I'll need to remember this! John, have you tried it on the white window trim? Mine is a little yellow, always has been from sitting at the dealer for two years, and Mr. Clean and Awesome won't brighten it up.

Jon, I've done a little on mine and although they weren't yellow, I did notice that the acetone removes the surface from the trim exposing new rubber (plastic) underneath so it may take out the yellow. I applied some synthetic wax (not sure if I got that right) to protect it.

That's right, you have an '07 now! I was still thinking the black rubber trim on your '92. The acetone trick might be just what I need then, since I keep it inside, I'm not worried about it yellowing again, and I can keep it 303'd. Have you tried it on the fiberglass doors by chance? I could tape off the door frame and striping, maybe even use a metal ruler as a guard, and go over the fiberglass to remove some yellowing. My fiberglass is still very smooth and shiny, just a tad yellow.
