Cleaning flush ball ? water leaking out of bowl.
Sealand toilet model 110 / 210 on our 2553 TT slowly leaks water into the tank. I called parts folks at Sealand and being told the model is no longer made. And neither is the "Flush ball cleaning tool" Has anyone else had this problem?
Seems the "tool" is suppose to grind the grud off the ball and that is a fix but what else can substitute for the "tool" ? a file tool of some sort?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Gimmie66
Well maybe this will help. Our 2004 T2499 came with that “tool” in the Sunline manual. It was attached to some Sealand brand cleaning cream.
Tonight I will see if I can find it and take a picture of it and post. I have only had to use it once in 5 years. The “tool” or at least what came with mine, was not very sophisticated. It was just a piece of molded plastic with a rough surface end patch on it. You put the Sealand cream type cleaner on the rough surface end patch then slide it up under between the ball and the rubber seal. And slowly worked it all the way around the ball seal for many times. Back and forth scrubbing.
The plastic handle was flexible and the rough surface made from some mild abrasion to srub off hard water deposits or anything else stuck on. It did do the trick as after that it held water no problem.
I have never seen the tool or the Sealand cleaning cream for sale at any RV store. Have not looked at every store but you would think this would be more popular.
If I ever lost mine and could not buy the cream cleaning stuff, which mine must be dried up by now, I would start with maybe vinegar to work on the water deposits and an old tongue depressor or pop sickle stick. This may be followed by some tooth paste as a mild abrasive or soft scrub hosue cleaner. Nothing harsh but something to work with. The actaul action of just the running the pop sickle stick around may knock anyting loose.
I was thinking of an old tooth brush but if the bristles ever came off then they themselves becomes a problem. Maybe a new tooth brush.
If your can find a piece of flexible plastic about 3/4” wide and use heavy sand paper on one end to rough it up real good, that about makes the “tool”
I’ll try to put up a pic later
Hope this helps
John

John,
Thank you for the reply, am going to try tootpaste, I tried dish washing soap but it still leaked. I've used a tooth brush and a stiff "squigie" for scrubbing pots and pans but it still leaks. I'll also try vingar.
thanks again,
Gimmie

How about one of those fingernail files that are made with the foam between the two pieces of sand paper ?

For those fine Sunline Campers who missed out on the infamous
Sealand toilet Seal Cleaning Gift Pack….
Here is what the Gift Pack is:
Now the infamous “tool” It is 8” long X ¾” wide, 1/16” thick. (AKA Tongue depressor…)
And here is the scrubbing end.
I have not looked at that thing since Nov of 03…. To make one, again ideally find a piece of flexible plastic, but if not the tongue depressor will work too or go to a craft store and ask for “craft sticks” I think they call them. We bought some for Scouts one time.
Now the scrubbing part, find yourself a piece of Velcro with self adhesive backing. And only use the hook part, not the material part. This scrubber looks just like it.
Good luck and hope this helps
John
PS Gimmie, when ever you figure out what works on cleaning compound let us know as this mini pack of stuff I have will dry up some day. Believe it or not, I taped it and it is still good.
PS2 I have asked at many RV stores for this bowl cleaning product and no one has yet to carry it.

Pull the front cover off of the base and you'll see a metal band that holds the bowl to the base. Try to tighten that band and see if that helps stop the water from leaking out.

Wow Gray, that is the first I have ever seen it. It is about the consistency of Clorox soft scrub which I would use if I needed to. I must admit, I have only used it once since 2003 and used the starter pack. What ever I'm doing on the water treatment must not be an issue with the minerals and the seal.
