Awning supports

I need to replace both telescopic awning support arms (rafters?) on my A&E 8500 awning. They are now satin finish, but white would be fine also. Does anyone have used, or know where to buy new or used arms?
Thanks,
Rich

Hi Rich,

About 2 maybe 3 years ago I was at this place in Elkhart.

A&E Awning Hardware - Factory RV Surplus

Do not know on the pricing, (freight might be the issue) but this surplus place had a bunch of new A & E awning parts in their back room. The pile was really big. Think 12' x 12' x 12' pile. They had all sizes of parts. They buy these up from RV manufactures on left over runs etc. They are all new.

It would for sure take a phone call and have the size and length of yours, pics too. May get lucky or not. If you are there in person with a tape measure and wandering the warehouse and know what you want, you can find a bargin. There are several of these surplus places in that area.

Here is another lead. They are into a little bit of everything now a days

Scroll down to here

I do not know if you are after the upper part (pins to the roller end) or the part that pins to the camper. They may have the other end too.

Awning

Rich, I've found that most local RV sales have these in the parts section. I've had to replace 2 of them and had no problem getting the ones I needed there.

John and Relie, thanks for the replies.
John, I checked the links and I've been to those sites before, the only one that had the complete assy. was the first one (Factory RV surplus) at $522.00.
About a half hour ago, I decided to call PPL motorhome b/c I couldn't find what I was looking for on their site. I spoke w/someone there who called it "awning hardware", gave me the part number and a price of $322.00.
That's a good savings if it's everything I need. I'm waiting for an insurance appraisal to come through before I do anything but I wanted to have a source in case I have to do the repair myself.
Thanks again,
Rich

Awning

Rich, are you sure that you need the whole arm? You can buy just the replacement parts.

Awning

That's a shame. It's a lot cheaper if you only need the inside part. Like less that a hundred as opposed to $300. Let us know how you make out.

Update on the awning supports. I was able to twist the rear support back into shape and that one now needs only the sliding cast part riveted to the bottom of the telescopic arm. I removed the front support from the trailer and with the help of a vise and some clamps was able to get that one back into shape. That one now needs the same cast piece as the rear, but I may get the telescopic tube as well if I can't straighten it. Will try as I get time.
Trip to the Adirondacks coming up soon!
Rich
