Awning Issue

Hi

I have a 28 ft Sunline Solaris and the awning will not retract. I flipped the leaver at the end of the awning to the extend position and rolled out the awning. When I wanted to retract it i flipped the switch to the retract position but the awning will not retract. I have used the awning a lot without any problems and like to put it up before I leave. The awning starts to retract but then stops after a 1/4 rotation. Any Ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rick

hmmm ....

Any chance the lever is not all the way up or is dropping down when the spring tries to roll the tube up?

I am pretty sure that it is all the way flipped down. it starts to roll back up then it sounds like the clicking noise inside and then it stops. It has never happened before. Will be clicking it out further this weekend.

Possible thoughts,

1. One of the springs inside the awning tube broke.

2. Something is binding on the awning tube bushing that rides over the awning tube support shaft and cannot turn. Heavy dirt etc. (may not be very likley, but not impossible)

3. One of the pop rivets sheared off and unwound the spring.

This thread may help show what is inside and what came loose with the spring.

I do express high caution if you unwind the spring to take the tube apart. Research it out well before hand and take precaution to ensure you can grip the awning shaft very, wear gloves and saftey glases.

Hope this helps and good luck

John
