Awning Bracket

Fitted on my Sunline Solaris T1700 is an awning , most likely common to other Sunline campers , that has a loose upper bracket. The upper bracket is held in place with 2 - #14 x 3" hex head screws which have come loose . Seems like the holes are stripped by the awning rail. Any ideas to repair the holes so the lag screws can hold the bracket firmly.
I don't think using a larger diameter / length screw would be the right way to go but open to any suggestions .

You could fill the holes with wood putty, drill them to the appropriate size and put the lag screws back in. You could also use something like paint stirring paddles and make shims. I would also use Dicor, to seal everything up.

Whatever you do, it should be done fairly quickly. That seems like a prime place for moisture to get in.

I'm sure others will be able to offer more suggestions.. Perhaps something I haven't thought of.
