Hi Joe

H’mm stuck arms, what year is your camper so we know what vintage you have?

I’m going out on a limb here thinking you might have the semi new type where the black knob tightens a 2 piece of about 1” square white aluminum tubing together. One is slotted and the other tube is not. One slips inside the other.

Unless those tubes have become bent I have never had them move hard on my vintage, 2004.

A question is, have you ever had the awning open? I know that sounds like, why are you asking but if this is your first time to open it, it may not be the arms bound up it may be something else holding the awning to the camper. I cannot phantom those arms being so tight unless bent or filled with dirt they are holding the awning in. But you may have a new problem many of us do not know about.

I’m assuming you flipped the locking roller tube lever on the end of the awning tube to let it role out? And you have the black knobs, both of them loose before pulling the awning out?

Can you give us some more info to go on of what you are seeing?

John

Sorry it's a 92 25'

I was able to setup the awning BUT the arms won't move in or out. This camper sat for 10 years.I don't know if I'm going to have to take the awning apart to lube them. The arms don't appear to be bent at all.Just seem to be stuck and I see no way to bang them in or out .or a place to put any silicon

Are you referring to the left and right arms that place tension on the awning when fully extended? The ones that are parallel to the awing fabric and extend from the top of the trailer to the ends of the roller?

Ah..... sitting for 10 years.... Yup that might do it. Dirt or some level of corrosion must of set in.

Thanks for the note back as you had us really scratching our heads here…. Glad it works now.

Now that they are freed up, you should not have this issue. If you have some level of heavy pitting in the aluminum you may have to clean it up if they start getting stuck again. When we use the awning often this does not become a problem.

Happy camping

John

Yup, I'd back the black knob off quite a ways and lube those threads with some white lithium grease so it stay's free and doesn't lock up again. Spray will kinda dissipate over time and it'll lock up again like you had.
