Atwood Stove 56282

When trying to light the pilot light on our stove, someone, leaned on the oven door and bent the hinges so it does not close properly.

Any suggestions on where to get new hinges or how to fix it. It is nice to use on occasion.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I can try and help but I cannot identify with the range part number you listed. Where did you find that 56282 number? I can only locate that number as an Atwood literature number and not the range model number. Like this one Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Sunline Owner's Files - Atwood range manual Literature no 56282

What year Sunline, and model? I'm going to assume it is at least past year 2000. What I am going to show you below would work on one of those and maybe back into the mid 90's. I do not know the really old ones in the 70's to the mid 90's.

If you lift up the stove top, inside there should be model number plate. It would look like this. The model may start with an R- and a number. This is from a 2004 model Sunline.

If you never lifted up the top of the stove before, they can be hard at times to open. There is a catch at the center of the front of the stove that holds down the top. It is just metal that is formed on the top and the front of the stove.

Here is how release the top cover. You need to press at the center of the back for the stove top. It may move hard, especially if it had not been lifted up in many years. You may have to even give it a real hard push to break free some corrosion. There are steel tabs in the back that act like springs holding the top forward.

Once the back moves, the front can will be released from the catch. It will lift up like this.

Some stove tops have a pin in the front and some do not. Atwood seemed to change that over the years. But many of them released the top by pushing in the center at the back of the stove top.

This is the top up on a 2007 Sunline going through a leak test. The spring hinge tabs for the stove top are shown in the back of the stove area, between the dust cover lid.

Hope this helps.

John

Thumbs up Thank you!!

Hi John,

Silly me, I didn't know that lifted up. Now someplace else to clean! I grabbed pictures and have attached them. The number I was using was on the manual that came with the trailer. Evidently not correct.

Anyway it is a 2003 Sunline Solaris T2653.

Hopefully the pictures came through.

Thanks much,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Ah, that sticker helps a lot. You have the Atwood RA-2131 series range. Looking up the parts diagram for model, (see PDF page 67, and under the RA-2131 column at the bottom of the page) is "hinge assy (2) Atwood part number 51991. See here Sunline Coach Owner's Club - Sunline Owner's Files - Atwood 2007 Service and Training Manual

Then taking that part number to the web, I get this on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/Atwood-51991-.../dp/B004QN0XKO

And on Ebay here https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atwood-5199...YAAOSwE9Bb40o1

It appears that part number includes 2 in a set. And the Amazon reviews show that as well.

See if this part is what you are after. I have never bought one of these, just followed the parts trail so I am not 100% sure this is what you are after.

Hope this helps

John

John!! Awesome!! Thank you. This looks like the clear deal. I am going to order off Amazon as it is cheaper and we have Prime. Be nice to have the oven back in proper working order. Also thank you for the extra work helping.

Later,
Brce
