Well look at it this way newer units are a lot more efficient, smaller, quieter, lighter, higher BTU per size so they cool better.

Not sure if this will help, but it may. Or how much you want to dig for a working motor.

Dometic discontinues parts all time, so the older parts manuals will list the older part numbers which then come up discontinued.

BUT, the old part number may have a new replacement part that is equivalent. Not sure of your helper is a Dometic dealer or not. If there is a new equivalent motor the Dometic dealer may know the new updated number.

And if there is a motor sticker on fan motor with a manufacture and model number on it, then you or he can hunt for that motor for an updated one to fit.

The M15580 you posted, I cannot tell if that is a Dometic part number or the manufacture of the motor and who the manufacture is. Dometic did not make the motor, they bought it.

I do no recall you posting the model of the AC roof unit, so we cannot look it up to help from that side.

But motor aside, ask the helper what the labor cost will be to change out the old motor for a new motor even if you can find one. That labor charge may be enough to help you decide to buy an all new AC unit, or hunt to see if you can find a motor.

Hope this helps

John
