A few questions from a sunline owner newbie

We just purchased our first travel trailer... A 1988 Sunline 24ft that we are using/ living in while working on some land we purchased in Montana.

Although I am mechanically inclined I do have a few questions that hopefully someone can help me with.

I'm not sure what model I actually have...the title has "TL TV/024 1988" and the ID # is 1LC2S1L24JD248160. How do I determine what model I have, and is it possible to still find a owner/user manual for the camper?

My second question involves a water leak. When the pump is cycled water pours out the back corners of the trailer. Are there any regular culprits to look for or is it best to just start checking? Are the plumbing lines fairly accessible as far as doing a visual inspection?

I appreciate any advice anyone can give me to help me get familiar with my camper and it's gas, water and electrical systems and get going with maintenance and repair......We don't have a water supply or electricity on our property yet, so we will rely heavily on the fresh water tank, gas and battery/electrical systems!

Hi,

Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club!

All I can tell you from the VIN is it's a '88 model year, about 24' long, was built at the Denver plant (the only one at the time), and was # 8160. So basically everything you already know.

In order to figure out the model, check out the files section on this site. The original '88 brochure is there in a PDF. Make sure to look real close because a lot of models from your year and around there had 22' and 24' versions of the same model, and the only difference you can see is a pantry by the refer.

Great! Thanks for posting the link to the brochure. I think I have the model T2404 from looking at the specs.

I've purchased the "RV repair and maintenance manual" by Bob Livingston to begin to familiarize myself with RV systems and how they operate etc....

Is it possible to find an owners manual for something like this?

I want to find the source of and repair the water system leak and make sure I know how to properly opertate and maintain the gas, water and electrical systems.

Really want to get the water going so we don't have to use the solar shower all the time!

Look in the bathroom vanity under the sink and see if there are two valves near the floor in there. There are usually low point drains in the water system and that's where they are on our trailer (also a rear bath). If those valves are open, you basically have two pipes draining under the trailer when your pump is on.

Also, check the files section there are a lot of manuals for different equipment in there.

Thanks so much for the insight Mac! I'll definitely check those low point drains. That would be great if that's the problem.

It'll be a couple of days (friday) before I can check em out......We work on the east side of the divide in St. Mary Montana and our land and sunline camper is on the west side of the divide in West Glacier.....so I get to wait until a day off to try and diagnose this again.....

Will check out the files section too.....I'm very appreciative of the help!

Although I'm unable to verify right now, I'm beginning to suspect Mac's advice on the drain valvesbeing open as a possible source of my water leak.

I noticed from the files section they also mention an outside shower drain valve too.....

Does anyone know where I should look for all the possible open drain points on a 1988 model T-2404 satellite?
