A couple of things, shank with more drop needed, flat tire &

skid bar broken.

Well first things first, brought my Sunline in for the Dometic recall and while there I was picking up screws around the camper! Sure enough get home next day my tire is flat. So I have to get myself a bottle jack and get that swaped with my spare and get it pluged.

Second my skid bar bought the farm on one side and the other is on its way.

Reason that is happening so much is the angle of the trailer, shes nose high because the hitch set up the dealer did for me doesn't have enough drop in it. One more screw hole and I'd be good to go unfortunetly there isn't one there with my Reese shank. Any ideas on where to get another and whats the going rate for this one part and am I calling it the right thing?

Thanks for any help, need to get this all done by the weekend, hopefully I'll be able too.

Thanks for any help.

Billy

Billy,

Shank is the correct name for the part you need.

You didnt' say how much rise/drop your current shank can handle. It's measured in inches. If you have the shortest one, it's probably this one which is a 6 3/4" shank.

Do you currently have it assembled with the shank pointed down as in the picture? If not, the thing is reversible and that should give you plenty of drop.

If it is already dropped as low as it can go, then you likely will need something like this:

Any RV dealer or trailer shop should be able to help you get the right shank. Generally it is a stock item. Or you can buy online from www.etrailer.com or similar.

www.reeseprod.com to help you look over what is available. Click the Products link and then select Weight Distribution and then WD shanks.

They run between $100 and $125 new. Add shipping costs if purchased online.

Thanks Steve it helps calling what I need the right name. Yes its turned down and I'll need the second one for sure. I think 1" or more would do it.

Running out to get a bottle jack to get that tire off.

Thanks!

Billy,
Where do you live? We just converted to the shorter style draw bar and have one of the longer ones available.

How does $75 plus shipping sound? We'll have to find out what shipping will be... This thing is heavy!

This is what I have now...

http://www.etrailer.com/pc-WDS~63970.htm

One or two more bolt holes and I'd be good to go I'm sure.

Kitty took this one to get an estimate on shipping... It will cost about $25 for shipping...

I'll go out and measure it, to see if it's exactly what you need...

I also have a shank that I don't need. It's one of the longer length and larger drop type. I'm in the mid Hudson Valley so you may be able to drive and pick it up. If I had seen that you are in the Hudson Valley I would have responded sooner.

This is the shank that I have available minus the hitch head, of course.

This is another pic.
