2nd up was to sand, wire wheel and paint the A-frame and LP tank area.

3rd project is laminate flooring.... I will keep updating as progress follows.

Tanks have been re-certified, filled and I installed a new regulator and lines.

Thank you Thomascine,.. I pleased with how it came out,.. but it was a major pain in the butt,...especially the bathroom area. If I were to do it again I might use vinyl just to reduce the aggravation level.

Here is a couple more upgrades,.. I update as they go in... got my eye on a 'Smart Charger/ Inverter next.

Kenwood DDX395BT,...does everything except the dishes.

12v power panel w/usb charging points, 12v charge point and VDC digital monitor.

Nice work! The floor looks great and the A frame. I see you have the dual cam hitch system. It is a very good hitch system. If you need help on adjusting, ask away.

A new power converter, consider Progressive Dynamics. https://www.progressivedyn.com/rv/

They make a really good 3 stage converter with a desulfate mode to help maintain the battery properly. They do not make a converter/inverter model, at least that I have seen. The converter creates all the 12 VDC and to charge the battery. The inverter to create 120 VAC from 12 VDC normally is a stand alone item.

This is very good info John as usual,.. Id be lost here if not for your help. So to address the above, this makes all the sense in the world,... in fact for my boat I installed a Promariner 12v charging system that is a 4 stage charger but does not convert,.. so your idea of leaving the existing converter in for converting and getting a 4 stage charger with de-sulfate makes great sense,... the Promariner comes in 1-4 bank systems.

I will look into this
Unfortunately,.. I didnt get the assist bars with the hitch system,.

Well, maybe a mix up. If you get the progressive dynamics power converter, it does everything. Supplies clean 12 VDC power to run the lights etc in the camper and charges the battery.

You would remove the old power converter or at least the guts of the DC power supply part, you can save the fuse panel and the AC breakers if you want. This is assuming your old converter is new enough to be an all in one power source for the light and battery charge.

If yours happens to be a really old one that had 2 modes, lights in the camper etc OR battery charge and not both at once, then you would need to do a little more wiring to get the new PD converter to do all the 12 VDC needs. But it is all doable. Some of the old power converters where not very good battery chargers even. They had no issue cooking a battery to death.

Back then they did not offer the PD4600 series https://www.progressivedyn.com/rv/po...r-4600-series/ which are retro fits to fit inside the gutted older converter. If they fit, that is a good way to go.

On the Dual cam, you can still buy the rest of the weight distribution hitch that will work with the older standard DC you have. If you want to look into that, create a post in the towing section on just the hitich and your needs and we are more than happy to drill down into the hitch setup for the truck if needed.

the unit I have in my boat is a ProMariner43021 multi bank charger/conditioner only,.. not a converter.

One of my Solar panels came today and Ive been toying with the idea of using some sort of quick mount system to mount the panels where the 'would be' front awning was. yes folks my trailer came WITHOUT a front awning. So in this picture you can see how one panel is sized well to cover half, and the other panel will cover the other half. And I would use this configuration while traveling,... then when I set up I would devise some sort of quick detach and set the panels directly in the sun.

Yes, that unit charges the camper battery and provides 12 VDC to run the DC items in the camper. We call that combo a Power Converter. Meaning supply it with 120 VAC input and in this case it provides up to 45 amps of clean 12 VDC to either charge the battery or power the camper 12 VDC items. This model lists it can even run without a battery installed.

If yours still works, it will do both, just it may not be the best battery charger. There seemed to be a T option (timer option) and do not know if your has it, to drop it from 14.0 volts (boost charge) down to 13.6 volts (standard charge) after 13 hours. However it does not talk about going down into float mode of 13.25 volts and low amps once the battery reached 100% state of charge. If the converter never stops 13.6 volts charging, in time, the battery will start to boil out the fluid faster than with a true float mode in the 13.25V and low current.

If you put a voltmeter on the battery when the converter is running, see what voltage it creates and it goes from 14.0 down to 13.6 and if it ever sees 13.25 area volage. The newer converters have better charging profiles with a desulfation mode. If your stays on 14 volts all the time, it can boil out the battery even faster.

I looked up your boat charger, Gen 3 ProSport 20 Triple | ProMariner Neat unit for a boat setup. Agree this is a charger/conditioner.

And to add, the mix up may have started when I said, change the power converter electronics only. And keep the DC fuse bank. Not that you have to save the old converter and add a new charger. If anything, you add a new power converter that does both supply the camper with 12 VDC and do the battery charging. Just that you do not have to change the 12 volt fuse bank whatever yours has unless you want to upgrade that too.

A quick thought, can the solar panel handle stone dings that can fly up during towing? It does not happen all the time, but can. I have had hard dings in the alumiumn siding from them. The Solar World panels on my barn roof can handle hail, but I do not know about stone dings which made be think of this in your case. Just passing the thought along.
