1988 Sunline Saturn Furnace Model 8012

Hello Everyone!!

I am new here and new to RV's in general...and decided to learn by doing.

Oh boy! Didn't know what I was getting into.

I picked up a used 1988 Saturn T1550 and have been going through it.

The furnace was operational, but the Pilot would only light sporadically, so I took some things apart, cleaned the orifice, etc...and fixed a connector on the High Limit Switch...and it fires up instantly.

The problem is, the FELT GASKET disintegrated when I took the Orifice Assembly out. The furnace appears to be a Hydro-Flame 8012 with a push-button igniter. 12,000 BTU's.

I see parts all over the place for the 8012-II, but no parts for the 8012...and running it without the felt gasket creates a small leak.

Does anyone know any old time experts on these that I could call, that might be able to fashion a gasket???

If I were to replace this furnace entirely, anyone have any suggestions as to exactly what to replace it with?? Lower budget, but servicable?

Has anyone used their Sunline in the Winter???

Will that little 12,000 BTU furnace keep it warm in freezing temperatures? I don't care about the water/waste, etc...That will be winterized. I am using this as a little office in the backyard for now!

Thank you to any experts out there!!

Thank you!!

Thank you for the warm welcome!!

Much appreciated!

Ps. Though finding parts is tricky, I was able to find the Felt Gasket material online and bought a punch kit -- so I should be able to fashion a gasket and get back into business!

Next project -- The Roof!
