Question 1987 Satellite T1850 Fed. Certification Sticker

I am currently refurbishing the camper in the title and read that there is supposed to be a federal certification sticker on the left front with info an trailer curb weight, max gross rate and axle load weight. All I see is the adhesive where I believe the sticker was mounted. Does anyone have a similar RV with this info or access to it. It would be greatly appreciated. thanks

That's correct, and most of the trailers of this age had the stickers wear off years ago. I have a couple pictures of them, but not good ones. It also contained a manufacture month/year, as well as the model number. Are you looking to recreate the sticker or just gather the info from it? The weights are available in the brochure, in the files section. I can help you determine the build date with your VIN, if you'd like to know.

thanks for the feedback. I was just looking for the info. The registration says 2707lbs. I am guessing that is empty weight leaving the factory. Will check the brochure in the files.

I'm on the computer now, so it's easier to look it up- I think you are correct. Brochure dry weight is 2700 (axle + tongue), GVWR is 4480.

Good news is that it'll help you save on trailer plate fees, if your state charges based on weight.

Must be a common thing. Maryland’s fees are based on GVWR. My T-1700 had a GVWR of 4,000 lbs but the title has it listed as 3,000.

My T-2370 has a GVWR of 5,500 lbs and the title has it listed as 5,000.

I think it is. The Sunline certificate of origin, aka the shipping document that went with the trailer and allowed dealers to apply for titles for new owners, stated both the "shipping weight" and the GVWR. Shipping weight was listed first, and I could see state employees just going with that.

In Michigan, it can be a huge deal for plate fees. Under 2500 is $75, 2500-9999 is $200, and over 10,000 is $300. If a GVWR goes over one of those thresholds, it pushes you into a more expensive weight fee. Luckily the fee here is one time per owner, but that's not the case in all states.

Hey Sunline Fan, Hey dmil123:

I have a real good pic of mine available, I would have to blank out the vin for my protection, but: dmil123, u could edit it, fill in the format and reprint it, laminate it and mount it in your own frame or something. I can sent it to you as a .pdf, or .jpg (easier to edit) at about 1 meg file size. I do editing, so if you can't do it, I can. But u don't know me. Staples can print it and laminate it for about 5 bucks.

Hi Holmzie,
thanks for the kind offer. I would really appreciate that. A .jpg would probably be easier to edit in paint. I would like to print it and just store in a binder.
If you cant attach a file in this forum, use my email... dmil123@yahoo.com

Much appreciated.

Holmzie, your sticker is probably silver and wide, correct? That's a different kind of sticker, started in 1989. Dmil's sticker is taller and narrower, and also a cream color.

Dmil, I can work on sending you the correct version if you'd like.

(Hey, Sunline Fan, jus got yr comment just after I posted this quick reply here. Yes, i believe it is silver-ish, about 2.5" high, perhaps 5 - 6" wide? I mind as well take the pic and send it anyway, I guess.)

Going to trailer now, I wonder if I attach a .jpg will it be "reduced". (I have been reducing my own pics to 1024 x 760 when posting to this forum just to be polite.) This pic of the sticker will be around 1 meg. I will try it and see, if it ain't good, I'll send it to yr Yahoo email.

It should attach here and reduce automatically, I haven't had any problems uploading them straight from my phone full size. In the old days of linking from Photobucket, that was definitely a concern.

Hey dmil123: Here's my Fed Cert sticker atttached

It may not be the right fomat as your trailer origonally had, and Sunline Fan would be the one to know.

perhaps it will be helpful. I understand that this site will automatically reduce the size, and therefore resolution. If you want, I can shoot it to your direct email.

thanks Holmzie. Your tag appears to be for a different trailer, so I suspect the max GVWR rating is probably not the same. Appreciate the effort though.

Thanks for the offer Sunline Fan. If you have the actual tag image for a 1987 T1850 Satellite, it would be appreciated. But there is no urgency since you provided the info from the brochures. It is more for my records should I sell the unit somewhere down the road.

I don't have one for that specific model (complete stickers are very rare, I've only seen a handful in the last 10-15 years), but attached is what it would have looked like minus the red circles.

In your case, the bottom line probably said "Satellite Travel Trailer". The sticker below predates the naming sequence associated with certain size floorplans, which came in 1986.
