1978 T1750 clearance lights

Ugh. I installed new tail lights today on the trailer and was really happy to find new replacements for the old style square lights. They look just like the originals! However when I tried to light them up by hooking up to the truck via the 7 pin, I had no tail lights, just stop and turns. I chased the wiring, inspected the wiring harness, checked fuses, ugh! Finally I found it. Bad grounding, (and bad connections in general) in just about ALL of the clearance lights along the upper front and rear of the trailer had caused a lot of resistance which melted a ground wire right off one of them.
So looks like I’ll have to swap out all the clearance lights for some LED jobs off Amazon this week. Sigh, one problem leads to another!
Thanks for letting me vent. Happy camping!

Ah yes, rusted/corroded grounds strike again. It's a common problem.

Glad you found it short of pulling the camper apart

The grounds are often forgotten, but in a 12 volt chassis ground system, they are a big deal.

You had good hunting!

Good news on the running lights! Added a skin to chassis ground strap from one of the screws at the bottom of the tin siding to the trailer frame, polished up all the grounding plates and positive contacts on each marker light, cut back the wires (both positive and negative) about a half inch from the ends and stripped the insulation so new shiny wire was showing and pulled them back through all the pinch contacts in the fixtures, and remounted the lights in the same holes using new self tapping screws and voila!! Working running lights!
