the magic of archives

a recent member here, also new to the truck camper thing, something told me to get on a forum.
I brought the camper home yesterday, and on starting to clean, noticed a huge ant nest, with eggs, the big lack kind, under the front bunk mat. so spray em down slop vac them up. off to bed.
Laying there last night, thinking about the camper out front, it dawns on me, the mat sets on plywood, its damp from a leak, and there has to be framing and space under it.
this morning, first thing, im out there zipped the screws out, lift a corner and shazam, nothing but ants, eggs, so many you could hear them. so spray till the last one stops moving then open up another section, repeat and repeat. needless to say, I won the war.
Ultimately, they ended up being only in the damp wood and insulation of the front cabover bunk floor. but what a mess, rotted wood beams, everything needed to go.
once i got into it, im not seeing any real support.
came on here, hit archives, rebuild truck camper search, and shazam again, there it is, everything is tied together useing the skin/siding as a starting point. so long story short, lots of liquid nails, lots of screws, metal straps at ever connection, metal straps binding wall to new floor, one stinkin hot afternoon and its done, stronger then ever with no ants. Fixed the leak with some 'through the roof" and done for the day.

Thank GOD For Archives.

Welcome to the SOC! The archives here have been invaluable to us too; between archives and the SOC members who are so willing to help with any problems, it's been great! Happy truck camping!

Don't know if you are just searching on the forum or using the Google Search....if you don't know about the Google Search - here is a link!

It works so much easier than the on site search!
