Camper frame question (anchor hooks)

I was curious if anyone can tell me how the anchoring hooks (where you attach the turnbuckles) on the camper are tied into the camper. Does it connect from one end to the other or is it just a plate attached to a 1x4 at the base of the camper on the front?

I ask this because the 1x4 is split and I can't believe that is all that is holding the front corner down. Just want to make sure before we take off and loose the camper! Not a good thought but better safe than sorry.

I tried looking this up online and came up with nothing so I am really hoping someone here can help. It would be much appreciated.

Welcome!

I don't know for sure, but I think it is just into the wood. Last I knew, truck campers didn't have much in terms of framing other than the stick construction. They don't have any kind of a metal frame like the trailers do.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping that the anchor that hooks the turnbuckles went along through the bottom of the camper. (from one side to the other). But i am very green and know little about all this.
A bit concerning now that there is a crack. Looks like I will have to reinforce it.

As I recall my turnbuckle attachments were plates that over time had twisted somewhat from the tension of the turnbuckle. The twisting of the tie down loops was identical on both sides. I can’t say for sure if it was because they were connected through the camper or just independently twisting under load. My camper was an 8 foot slide in that I could close the tailgate on, so the twisting was never a concern for me. Then again I was young and stupid and didn’t know better!
