Question What size awning for T1550?

Does anyone know what size awning should be on a 1983 T1550? Mine was gone when I got it and I never bothered to measure the rail. II have a lead on one and want to make sure it will fit...

OK - I had a chance to stop by on the way home last night and measure the rail that is on the trailer...it's 8-1/2 feet.

So...do I need a 8ft awning to fit inside the rail, or a 9ft awning that protrudes past the ends of the rail?

Anyone?

I'd go 8'. The remainder of the rail acts as a drip rail. You don't want it hanging over the end because the material would flap and tear. The end of the awning is nothing more than awning fabric wrapped around a plastic cord, so it's easy to tear. The end is not heavy duty aluminum or anything.

Sorry I couldn't confirm the stock length for you, I never measured mine... 8' sounds about right though. Mine mounted just behind the rear storage door (maybe back 4") and just in front of the main entry door (in front maybe by 6"). That was where the feet mounted at the bottom of the trailer, so the arms extend longer than the fabric itself. Up on top, the rear upper rail is mounted inside the end of the rail by maybe 2", and the front is mounted inside of the front end of the rail by 4".

Yeah, I'm thinking 8ft also...unfortunately the one I had a lead on was 9ft, so I passed on it. I'm thinking I'll just buy a new 8ft bag awning now.

If you haven't bought an awning yet, be careful. Last one I bought I tried to get as large as possible and it was supposed to be a finished size, but finished size was after hemming the edges so I lost some length all around.

I gave up on an awning. Too expensive for a 28 year old trailer on it's last legs...
