Frank,

I didn't feel flamed nor did I intend to flame. That is just not my mentality. I am such a pussycat.

One thing you said did bring another thought to my mind but I wasn't going to say anything for fear of hijacking the topic..... but...... You mentioned a club name change and that members were all "sunliners". That name might be just as good as any longer one that might come up. Sunliners is not only the name of the Sunline campers but a attitude. People wanting to travel in search of new mornings under sunny skies, Sunliners.

A one word club name that would be easy enough to read without standing on top of it, includes everyone and not just Sunline Owners if the intent is made clear. It does as well respect the Sunline heritage, I think.

Again Frank, I did and do respect your opinions as much as I hope you respect mine.

Happy Camping!

jim

Since CafePress makes the products "On Demand". Why not just have a seperate design for Alumni. The membership number would be the same.

If you don't have a sunline anymore, then you are alumni. It deosn't exactly make someone excluded from the lunch table.

I think it would be kinda neat to see if someone is a member at a glance. Every now and then, I see one cruising down the road and wonder if the owners are on the forum but obviously I can't ask.

Maybe an "Alumni" strip added to the one Jon posted earlier. ( I liked the one Jon posted)

OK, I like the idea so you'll see a T-1950 headed north on rt 30 in the New York Adirondacks with 0255 (okay, I'll double check) on the front and back for the 4th of July weekend.

I'll just use numbers for now and maybe I'll center them under a bumper sticker. It's about the right size. This will give business to Cafe Press and some revenue for the club. It's a win, win, win situation.

I like Jon's design and if that pans out with something we can buy at Cafe and add numbers, I'll just replace mine.

Paul,

FYI - the Sunline bumper stickers from Cafe Press fade really bad after a year or two from the sun and then they look awful. Plus they are almost impossible to remove once the sun bakes them on. I put one on the back storage door, now I’m sorry I did.

Just sharing with you my $0.02 and experience with the Cafe Press Sunline bumper stickers.

If you use a number that is a SOC member # based on the date they joined the SOC, then IMO everyone is a member of the SOC regardless of what type of trailer or RV they currently own.
Therefore, there is no reason to identify anyone as an “Alumni”

By trying to categorize members, you may be getting into some dangerous waters.
I’m sure there are current members of the SOC that have never owned a Sunline. How would you categorize them?
Then do we start to categorize members based on what their tow vehicle is?

Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of the “Alumni” categorization, because I feel members are members and friends are friends regardless of what their RV is.

Whew!

I really feel that I opened Pandora's box by raising the "alumni" question. But (a) as my original intent was to make the club seem more open to potential members, and (b) I buy into Hutch's "members are members" logic.....then I must raise a final question on the subject. Do we thus need the "Owners" in the club title, web site, and sticker? I have no need to debate this issue further......the question simply seems logical. This was my final query posting on the subject.

I do like Hutch's suggested # method using Jon's design, and feel we should go with something close to that. [I too have had problems with CafePress's stickers fading--another source would be a good idea].

I think "Alumni" came about when someone said they were leaving the forum because they said they bought a different brand and sold their Sunline. It was suggested they stay as "Alumni" ... which sounds much nicer than SOB. Fortunately for us they and other owners of other brands stayed on the forum. I guess it would be up to them if they want the Alumni designation added.

Just a thought (that is dangerous for me) but, what if the decal would say :

"Sunline Owners Club"
Member #0014
SunlineOwners Club.com

Sorry I can't do all the graphic display stuff like some of you "techy folks". Hey, maybe that's because you can't do that stuff with hammers, drills & saws ?????
