Trailer VIN No.

I have an older 1987 Sunline. My problem is the need to locate the VIN number so I can register the trailer for the first time in 20 years. It's been in the north Maine woods for years and never left the campground until just recently. The nameplate on the right front side is worn completely and the VIN number is unreadable. I believe there is another number located somewhere on the frame but do not know the exact location. Anyone have hint.

Love this trailer and I've been doing my best to keep it in good shape over the years.

Thanks
Al

I don't know if Sunline did this years ago but when Steve took off the sill plate at the front door (that silver thing you step on) he found a plastic strip under there with our VIN on it.

Thanks Pam, we'll take a look there.

Hi Al,

I'm sorry I missed your post. I consider myself like the resident expert on Sunline VIN's and production info around here. I also operate the only known Sunline registry for coach info.

Yes, your VIN should be under the door sill plate. But before you take that off, it's in another place that's a lot easier to get to.

On the left, ODS side of your tongue, almost right below the LP tank mount, is a little aluminum plate that should have the number on it. This will be the exact same plate that you'll find under the door sill plate.

If you've painted the tongue before, then you may need to scrape a little paint off in order to read the number.

Also, based on your pic, your coach is a 1986, not a 1987. Is the build date on the sticker still readable? That might be where the 1987 is from, since roughly half the model year was built in 1987.

Just to give you an idea of what you should be looking for:

It appears from your pic that your coach is a '86 T-2460, 61, or 63, depending on what bedroom floorplan you have.

The VIN should look something like: 1LC2S1L2_GD24_ _ _ _

Here's a pic of the plate on the tongue, from a slightly smaller coach than yours:

For those following this discussion, the above picture was from the coach on the riverside at Buttonwood.

When you do find the VIN, I would love to add it to the Sunline registry!

Jon

Jon, thanks for the great infomation. I'll certainly let you know what I'm able to find. So as the snow melts and we can get to the trailer.

Hey Al,

Just so you know, for registration purposes, it should be: 1LC2S1L24GD245087

The "5" in the fifth place should be an "S".

Thanks for the VIN, it's been added!

Just in case you're wondering, the closest one to it that I have is # 5067, which is a T-2751 with the brown interior.

Jon

Have VIN, need help identifying model #

Hello,
I just bought an 86 Sunline Saturn, was told it was 16 ft, tip of tongue to tail, but the trailer itself is about 13ft. I'd like to identify the model please, I do have the VIN: 1LC2S1F18GD151359. Dining area in front, couch/bed in rear, bath/kitchen in center.

Also, I want to know how I would go about replacing the bath walls, they are flimsy pieces of thin wood, behind the toilet, and on the shower head wall, and I can see daylight through the seams. They don't seem suitable for a bath area where water would be present and I'd like to make them more water resistant.
Also, if anyone knows good supply dealers for trim etc, I'd appreciate it.
ps: I'm a single gal, and can use simple tools but don't have extensive technical knowledge about repairs or restoration, so any advice must be as clear as possible because I'm a newbie! Thanks in advance!

Looks to be a T-1550. A picture of the other side would help. The under dinette storage compartment door, the single axle, the windows and your description is what I'm basing this on. I don't see the bunk bed windows though.

Bunjin, According to the brochure I saw posted elsewhere, I think you're right. I'm not sure I'm set up for bunk beds, the previous owner painted inside and any seams are invisible.

Also, any tips on replacing interior walls? I can see thru the seams of the closet/bathroom, and the cabinet in the bathroom has a sagging ceiling....

irishgrl,

Can you please post some pictures of the areas you are concerned with? It really helps trying to help.

There should be a track attached to the ceiling for a shower curtain to help keep water off walls.

A sagging ceiling indicates either water present or had been present. Do you know if you are water tight?

My guess is probably not, or at least, not always in the past... I guess I'm going to have to get some friends help me with repairs. Thank you for your feedback though.
