Both types of paper have their advantages. The multi-ply stuff feels good (and works good) on your end, but the single ply stuff is good when it comes to draining and flushing your tanks. It also decomposes quicker, so campgrounds like it for their septic systems. Don't be fooled by the expensive paper direct from Thetford. As far as I know, the really cheap one ply paper at grocery stores is basically the same thing. But if you need an excuse with the DW to go to Camping World, then the Thetford stuff is fine

We always check the RV section in Wally-World... From time to time, the RV paper (Thetford brand) is on sale pertty cheap (cheaper than the cheap home stuff) and we pick up a few packs. There is never anything new in that section (that I have noticed at least), but the the sales kind of rotate through it. just look for the "red stickers".

You can always do a water test to determine which TP brakes down fastest. Take two glasses of water, put 1 sheet of different TP in each glass, shake them up and see which TP brakes down faster.
I remember reading some place someone doing this and determining that the cheap Scotts 1-ply TP broke down fastest, faster than the Thetford RV TP.
Personally, we always use 1-ply TP, mainly because it brakes down faster and flushes easier. You want to keep your black tank as clean as possible. Un-flushed solid fast can harden and create a real problem, not to mention the smell it can create.

I know this may sound stupid, but what is Wally-World? Are you referring to Wal-mart? If there is such a store called Wally-World, we don't have any in Michigan.

I got this explaination when I asked the same question at Camping World. It's okay for the paper to take two or three days to dissolve in a sepetic tank but in your camper chances are you'll be draining your holding tank only hours after the last use and you want only liquid to drain out or it may not all be evacuated. Makes sense.

Thanks, I guess that nickname hasn't come this far north yet. We've got Wal-Marts around here! I'm sure they'll get more popular (the ones with food, that is) now since one of our big food stores around here, Farmer Jack, is closing all stores down for good. I've heard their largest competitor, Kroger, is buying most of the stores, but they aren't buying the ones where they have a store just down the street. Maybe Wal-Mart will buy the rest, tear them down, and rebuild large stores in their place?

Rule for Toilet Paper
Being boaters for many years, we follow this toilet paper rule: Never Put Anything Into The Head (toilet) Unless You Have Eaten It First. LOL!
Seriously, this method has saved us from head clogs. Most toilet paper goes into the trash can and any that is put into the head is the quick dissolve type.

We also have a covered garbage can along side the pottie and yellowed paper goes in there, we do empty the can daily of course (it is after all just me using TP most of the time)! We use single ply TP all the time, have had septic systems for years (at home) so we have always been aware of the need for the TP to dissolve......
Actually most (5 or 6 TT's) of the people we camp with have a can just for TP........
