Three questions

I have three questions that apply mostly to 1550 owners.

First: Does anyone know the weight limit on the fold down bunk beds in the 1550? Is it okay for adults or just kids?

Second: I will be hauling my 1550 with a 99' F-150, I have an opportunity to purchase a weight distribution hitch for about $150.00 is it worth it for such a small trailer?

Third: Is there a master shutoff valve for the gas on the stove? If were not going to use it I would like to shut it off so we dont have to worry about the knobs getting bumped.

Thanks!
Patrick

Patrick,
We own a 15.5 foot SUnline and have traveled extensively with it.

First: Does anyone know the weight limit on the fold down bunk beds in the 1550? Is it okay for adults or just kids?

The bunks are designed for 100 pounds. We converted ours for storage. I suspect they could take more and there's nothing to stop you from stiffening them. I will say when we had it down our nieces and nephews we're forever on it.

Second: I will be hauling my 1550 with a 99' F-150, I have an opportunity to purchase a weight distribution hitch for about $150.00 is it worth it for such a small trailer?

Great price. We dont use one and never felt it was needed. We do have an anti sway bar - about $60 new I think. Keep the trailer flat and load it evenly. If you ever have a small sway problem tap your brake controller, The only time we had a problem we had too much weight on the rear bumper. We tow ours with a 2004 Honda CRV 4 cylinder and have been everywhere - Labrador and the Rockies and have never had a single problem.

Third: Is there a master shutoff valve for the gas on the stove? If were not going to use it I would like to shut it off so we dont have to worry about the knobs getting bumped.

We've never had a knob turn. We do shut off the gas at the tank when we're towing or if we're leaving the trailer for more than a day. We do make it a habit to push in the stove knobs and release them when we shut off a burner. My wife says it really seals the valve. There is a guard on ours in front of the knobs that also prevents accidental contact, I admit never noticing the guard until your email - it's where we hang a dish towel. Againg shut it off at the tank.

Safe travels,
