These pics are from a 2004 T2499, your 2005 should look the same.
The comment about the gas being "unhooked" does not add up. Why would they unhook it, meaning physically unhooking it???
In these case pictures go a long way to help show what you have.
There was a recall on the Dometic fridges and you can see the added parts if it was done. If it was not done, it can still be done and is free from any Dometic service place or RV dealer who repairs Dometic fridges.
The pic shows the metal shields of the recall once the white outside cover is removed
This pic has the metal shield removed and you can see the copper gas line
This pic is a close up of the gas valve. There is a actual shut off valve as part of the gas valve. It has a screw driver slot just after the black solenoid part of the valve that you can turn and shut off the gas. The slot straight up is off, the slot horizontal is on.
The 1st owner may have turned that screw to shut off the gas operation. Why? real good question, but that may be what transpired. There may be some other issue with the gas part of the fridge that does not work, but it is all fixable. If the copper tube is physically unhooked, it must be capped off or properly plugged.
Did they use any of the other gas appliances? Stove, hot water heater, the furnace? If they did and they all work, then hopefully someone did not leave an open gas line at the fridge connection. Odds at least exist they did not do that as a leak that big the other appliances would not work, but for sure check it out.
Hope this helps and good luck with your new camper.
John
