T-1950 water heater

Has anyone had a problem with the 6 gal water heater leaking? I sanitized the water system today on the T-1950 we picked up last weekend and found that the water heater is leaking somewhere underneath the heater. The pipe fittings are all dry. I does not work on gas either . It will light twice and go out. I have to bring it back to the dealer tomorrow and leave it for the week. I'm wondering if this isolated problem.

The leak I can't help you with. Is your trailer new? The hot water tank should have a 2 year warrantee on it so it should be covered.

How may times did you try to light the water heater? The unit will try to start on gas 2 or 3 times then shut down if no flame. Typically, in the spring the first time a light the water heater with gas, it takes me 3 to 4 times of turning it on until it finally light and the flame stays on. My water heater is in the back and I figure it takes some time to get the gas flowing.

Also, check the orifice for dirt or spider web, which will also impact the water heater from starting. Spiders are attracted to the propane. Clean it out, if needed.

Good Luck.

Sherri,

I'm with Paul - it usually takes 4 - 5 times of "trying" the first use! After that it just fires up.......can't help with the water leak - UNLESS you drained the water from the tank and as you know it drains into the compartment and some of the residual water is filtering thru.....

T-1950 Water Heater

I just heard from the dealer and the water heater has a split seam. This is a new unit so maybe some water was left in storage? Who knows at this point.

Can't help with the leaks/split seam. But can offer a bit of advise on lighting the WH after trailer has been in storage or propane tanks disconnected. Light your stove top burners, YEAH, I know your not wanting to cook, just trying to light the WH, but by doing this you are pulling more propane thru the lines and this helps remove the air in the lines. It takes a good while to get the air out of the line when your using the WH to do that.

I agree with Kitty, I light the range top everytime before going on a camping trip to get the propane flowing.

I shut off the propane tanks when the trialer is in storage. When I bring the trailer home to prep for a trip I turn on the propane tanks than light the range top to get gas flowing through the lines. I also start the water heater at home to check it out. I let it run for a few minutes than shut if off.

I run the refig on propane when traveling, so getting the propane flowing through the lines also helps in lighting the refig when I unplug from house power.
