T-1950 Coupler Height

Could anyone tell me the height off the ground of the T-1950 trailer coupler? I'm trying to find out if we need an offset hitch bar for our Hensley Arrow hitch. The tow vehicle is a Jeep Liberty. I'm trying to find out the Liberty's receiver height on a Jeep forum. Both trailer and Jeep are several thousand miles away, or I'd measure them myself.

Thanks,

Wobbly

I can't help you with the Jeep measurement, but check out the "sway and control" topic on page 2 of this forum for a picture with measurements for the trailer coupler (18½" off the ground). While this is on a 2499, my hitch/coupler height did not change between my 2051 and my 2553, so it should be accurate for your 1950.

I owned a 1984 T-1950. I had called customer service (LaRue) last summer to get the coupler height of my unit. She had to check that they made the T1950 that long ago. She was surprised that they did. She looked it up for me.
Anyway, if my memory serves me right, the height was more like 16 1/2 inches. It was 16 inches and a bit..

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.
I hope the height of the 2007 T-1950 is closer to 18.5". The receiver centerline is 15.5" off the ground. The top of the Hensley ball is is about 4" above the receiver centerline.

ball height

We got our 2007 T1950 last Nov. on closeout......traded in a '95 Coachmen. The dealer had to lower my hitch ball down to the lowest setting of 16" on my Draw-Tite spring bar head. It ia absoluteley 16". Unless yours is an older model or has had an axle flip you will probably have 16" also.

Looks like we will need a 5" drop. Hensley hitch bars come in 2" drop increments. So we could get a 4" or 6" drop bar and be pretty close. Hensley offers free hitch bar exchange to the original owner. All others (like us) pay $195. Luckily, we pick up our trailer not too far from the Romeo, MI plant. This will save the shipping cost.

The T-1950 was made in 1984. I am actually working on the '84 brochure as we speak. The 1950 actually dates back to 1983, and then the 19 1/2' SB prior to that (1979-1982). However, the 19 1/2' SB and T-1950 from that time differed greatly from today's model. The T-1950 of the old version was discontinued after the 1985 model year and then came back again in 1995 as the current floorplan, with an optional dinette bench and table in place of the chair.

Sorry for the history lesson . I just thought I'd mention it since I just saw it in the brochure I'm working on.

The 2007 Sunline brochure gives the hitch height as 17.5". That's the number the dealer gave me, but they probably just looked at the brochure, and didn't measure it.

I think Sunline usually had a coupler height of 17.5" on the smaller units like mine (T-2363 and smaller). Measurement is to the top of the coupler / top of the ball.

Here is a pic of a 2007 T1950SR on Medbills camper. Now this is the slide 1950 however Sunline had some real low ones even in the newer models. 15 1/4" which is "low"

I know my 2004 T2499 was 18 1/2" ball height. Actually on the older Sunline web sites on the PDF of the floor plan they use to list ball height.

Maybe Sunline Fan has a copy of that on a 2000 T1950.

And as Gene shows on his he has 17 1/2".

However your 12 to 13" does not sound right. Are you measureing ground to top inside of ball coupler when TT is level?

I'll dig and see if I can find a working archive Sunline web site with a pdf of the floor plan for year 2000. It is a hunt and peck on the archive site.

Hope this helps

John

I think this is unpublished. I'm not sure what year they started publishing these numbers, the first time they showed up in a brochure was just in 2007. Before that, I see they were on the '04 spec sheet from the binder, but I found a '99 that does not have it.
