Solaris T1700??

On the 1995 Sunline Solaris T1700 does the dinette convert into a bed and also the other day I took my girl for a bath and on the dive home I lost the refrigerator vent cover can anyone tell me how or where to find a replacement. Also I could use any info on how to clean rust from the metal trim in The freezer.

Hi,

I can help with the fridge cover, but we need some dimensions to help confirm which cover you need. On this pic of yours,

Your 1995 camper with the smaller fridge fell into a transition period when Dometic was changing roof vents. Without confirming the size of the roof vent base, I do not know which exact cover will fit.

The four posts sticking out of the vent base, were part of the cover that broke off. The cover is attached to the roof vent base by those four posts. Each of those posts has a screw in the center of the post that screws the cover down to the base. There is Dicro lap sealant caulk over the top of the screw so the screw does not rust out. Using a straight-blade screwdriver, dig out the old caulk, take the four screws out along with the broken-off posts, and then measure the center distance front to back and left to right of the screw hole centers. Post the dimensions of the hole pattern.

While up there, could you measure the outside of the plastic base, which creates a vertical wall over the roof's opening? The rectangular bottom part of the base, not the wings on the sides, is just below the wings, which is the rectangular base. Trying to know what the roof opening is, and by measuring the rectangle part of the base, we can back into the roof opening.

Measure, etc., from the side of the camper on a ladder. You need to add extra support boards on the roof rafters before kneeling or walking on them. Your camper does not have a direct walk-on roof.

I have several covers and bases in my barn that I can measure to help with what base you have. Then you can buy the right cover; it may be one of two covers, pending the size.

On the rust on the inside, take a few more pics and post. Hard to see in the one pic you posted.

Regarding the dinette conversion to a bed, Sunline had many that did that, but I need to know which dinette is in your camper. Could you post a few pics of the dinette so we can help better determine whether it is convertible or not?

I hope this helps.

John

If you could see the photo markings that I put there the one in yellow and the one in teal is that how I would measure just measure the inside of the screw marks from screw to screw or do I literally have to take the thing off to get the measurement

If you're positive that the screws are standing perfectly vertical, you could do the measuring without removing them. But realistically, you'll be removing them in order to mount the replacement cover. Might as well do it now and eliminate any uncertainty.

Hi,

Let's try this another way. Your pictures "might be" the now-discontinued plastic fridge vent base. While Dometic stopped making it, after-market folks have, so we can still get good parts.

I removed several of the vent bases while doing re-roofs on Sunlines. I measured this one of them and have the dimensions. You can see if the one you have lined up with these numbers; if they do, I have the parts numbers of two brands below on what to buy for a replacement cover that fits that base.

Here are two views of the one I measured.

The cover mounting holes are 21 3/4" long and measured like this, with the remains of the old cover removed.

The cover mounting holes are 4 1/4" in the width direction.

Dometic only made a few different sizes, and the overall length is very different from each other. They differ by whole inches, not by 1/16" of an inch. You can try to line up your tape measure over the screw centers of the old posts still screwed on to see if your dimensions line up with the ones I posted.

For a replacement cover to fit the base I posted above, two brands will fit it. You can copy these names and part numbers in a search engine and buy from the place you trust the most. Or take it to a local RV dealer and get one.

1. Ventmate 65528 RV Refrigerator Vent Cover to replace Dometic 3103634.022 - Cap Only

Here is the mfg web site https://www.ventmate-products.com/Pr...ator-Vent-Lids

2. Camco RV Refrigerator Roof Vent Cover, part number 42160

Camco's web site https://camcooutdoors.com/refrigerat...er-only-white/

Many RV parts places sell both. Amazon offers them, as do many retailers. I have used both brands and have had good success with them.

If yours does not come close to the dimensions I listed, let us know what the dimensions are, and we can see if we can find one of the older ones.

I hope this helps

John
