Solaris T-1550 shower
We recently purchased a 1996 T-1550 and, for the most part, only checked it out, caulked a bit, painted the frame, replaced screws w/ stainless steel screws and winterized it.
While looking it over it surprised me that the shower curtain only goes across two sides, leaving what appears to be plastic wall paper to keep the water from getting into the walls. My question is this:
Is this a cause for concern or have other owners had problems with this?
I apologize in advance if this has been discussed previously. I did search around and didn't find a similar post.
Thanks,
Dan

Dan,
First, welcome to the group and wonderful world of Sunline ownership. Now to your question.
When I had my 1660 with a shower like yours, I DID NOT trust the vinyl wallpaper. I purchased some small picture frame hangers that I installed on the walls as close to the ceiling as possible, and then I hung a clear vinyl shower curtain on the newly installed hooks. The shower curtain was long enough to hang into the shower pan. I also made one side of the regular shower curtain over lap the stationary for added protection. Don't think I have any photos to show you, but I will search.

Hi Dan
Welcome to Sunline Club!
Your question is valid. And I do not exactly know on the older ones. The newer ones have a plastic shower insert. I’m sure someone will be along shortly as we have several active members that have had the mid 90’s campers and may know.
Good deal on the stainless screws exchange. Little by little I keep converting all mine as before the rust streaks get to bad.
Again, welcome.
John

Shower curtain - good idea
Kitty and John,
Thanks for your kind welcome.
Good idea of using the hooks for a shower curtain. When not used for that it can be used to cover other things from rain (bikes, wood, etc..). It's such a small shower I really can't see us using it that often. We've camped for many years without it.
Thank you again. At some point I hope to contribute some answers to the board.

Dan,
Welcome to the group.
I have a 1982 Sunline 15.5, virtually identical to yours. Like you I replaced some 600 screws with stainless. As well I expanded our bathroom to include a dry shower. There are some pictures of it on this site, look under my screen name of Honda03842.
We are very happy with the expansion if for no other reason that it reduces the feel of the bathroom, provides a convenient place to hang wet jackets, creates a changing room, so many little things we had not thought of besides a comfortable dry shower.
It helps that there are just two of us so we don't miss the part of the dinette it took.
Again welcome to the site and safe travels,

Hello All --
I have a T-1550 and notice the comments about people replacing screws.
How come? Which screws?? Not up-to-speed on this!
Thank you!

The screws used in these campers are made of ferrous metal, and unless completely protected from moisture, they will rust over time. That can leave unsightly stains "downstream" of the screw. More importantly, eventually enough of the screw's body rusts away that it's not holding anything.

Thank you!
So, just all the screws? Along the roofline? And all the windows, etc???
Wow...Would never have thought to do that.
Thank you!

No need to go nuts over it; if the paint and caulk are intact, they can last for decades. Don't fix what ain't broke. But it doesn't hurt to keep some stainless screws around for use as needed.

Totally agree. I was just curious what the issue may be and wanted to keep an eye on it. So many other projects to do...! Thanks for the wisdom!
