Skylight Problem

Last night after some pretty strong storms, our bathroom skylight blew open and stayed open until this morning; Needless to say, we were drying up lots of water. When I called a local RV parts dealer, they suggested to get a Max Air cover. There are so many different ones, we didn't know which one to choose. Do we need one of these and which one have you used and enjoyed?

Maybe I should have also added that the arm on the skylight has stripped, and I know that we can get a new one, but is it just going to do it again. Have ya'll had problems with this?

Thanks in Advance for any help,
Mellie

Happy Camping!

You're going to need to repair/replace the cover and arm. But, the MaxxAir cover is also great investment. It protects the vent cover from UV damage and let's you leave the vent open in inclement weather.

As to which one, if you just have a standard vent the basic model will do. If you have a powered vent, they make high flow models. They also make a complete replacement fan/vent.

Any of these will fit your vent. Pick your color.

I wouldn't leave home without it. I have a cover over the bathroom vent and a powered, 3 speed reversable Maxx Air in the living area. I never have to worry about rain at night or while we're away and have a very good cooling fan on 12v. Makes a good exhaust fan for cooking too.

See this thread for http://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f6...hlight=maxxair for general info about Maxxair products as well as the installation. This thread includes several other links including a post by JohnB on how to replace the OEM vent. If you plan to replace the entire vent the MaxxFan I installed is a viable alternative, but pricey if you don't want the fan function.

The MaxxFan has a positive lock for the closed and open position and it will not move if it is locked. I've never experienced one of the other vents opening on its own and I've towed 4 different trailers over thousands of miles.

We also have MaxxAir II covers on the other vents. These are a really good deal at CW now as they come with the EZ open brackets that just need a clip removal to flip them over and clean up around the vent lid.

We have the Maxi covers and I really like them. We even leave the vents open a crack going down the road. They can be left open when it rains, for ventilation. They're the smoke colored ones from Camping World.
