Shower Drain Connection Leak

Got a little problem.... i found a slow leak under the shower pan where it connects to the p-trap. This connection is in a very tight spot, all one-hand work ! You can actually see how the drain fitting and the top of the p-trap do not line up as they should, it's a wonder this hadn't leaked before. I figure with the 1,000 plus miles we traveled to SC things loosened a little. I would snap a pic, but my cable for my camera is packed. Anyone had this problem before ? I purchased a fernco fitting and hope to remove the p-trap and locate a new p-trap with a longer stub and make a water tight connection that way. Oh, did i mention the shower shut off sprang a leak too ?? That was an easy fix with a replacement part found at Campers world for $20. It's a good thing we found it, it was leaking right over the power converter. Anyone have a better fix in mind ???? thanks in advance

Hey Jeff,

Is there any way to remove the P trap and get a Hepvo waterless trap in there? Would it make the task any easier?

Jeff, I have had the shower basin fitting nut come loose. This it the large aluminum thin nut that tightens up strainer basket to the shower basin. Ours is not so burried so I could get to it.

I have not yet had any trap issues. EMD_Driver's link to that unique trap was different. Never saw one of them before. I see they can be mounted almost horizontal which might be an option.

Good luck

John

Gary- thanks for the info and the link, that looks like a possibility. I will let you know how it all works out.... it sure is a tight space to work in. Making repairs "on the road" is challenging, i do have some tools with me, but most of my tools are packed away in a POD in Charleston. I have no doubt that if i needed to borrow a tool one of the full-timers here or the owner would lend me one of theirs. These people here are so friendly and caring, they have made us feel so welcome and always ask if there is anything we need. Yesterday evening were included in a "spur of the moment" cookout get together and had a blast ! It has been a quick 3 weeks here, we look fwd to getting into our home soon, but will always remember the kind people here who have truly made us feel welcome and "at home" during our Summer Adventure.
