Roof question

I just purchased a 1999 T2550. It is my first camper and I am looking forward to camping with the family. It is clean and has no leaks but while cleaning & inspecting the roof, I noticed cracs in the caulk-like material around the vents. Is this normal or should I seal these somehow? Hopefully the pictures will attach. Thanks for any feedback.

I would from the pics, Peel/scrape carefully NO SHARP OBJECTS off what you can, Be careful you do have a rubber roof, DO WATCH WHERE YOU STEP if your walking on roof. Go to rv store and ask for the cualk that they use around roof vents/covers. It is about $8 a tube. Had to replace my vents for holding tanks they were brittle and while i was up there i redid my vents and screws.

I disagree! Do not scrape off what is there. You run the risk of doing more damage than good. If anything is loose, pull it off, but don't over do it. The only time I would outright remove the caulk is if you are replacing a vent or other fitting on the roof.

(There are already a number of discussion threads in the Repairs and Maintenance area on this subject.)

Clean it well and simply recoat the entire seams with Dicor Self-Leveling caulk. It is available at any RV parts counter and online as well. Be sure the caulk flows into the cracks and into the edges of the existing caulk.
