Owner's manual
We recently bought a 1987 Sunline Saturn, not sure of the model, and need an owner's manual. We can't get the fridge to work.

Hi JenG,
Welcome! Congrats on your new Sunny!
Let me guide you through accessing an owner's manual that would line up with your age camper. In this post of mine, you'll find an explanation of how to navigate to our FILES section and download the manual. https://www.sunlineclub.com/forums/f...tml#post152705
Next is the fridge, and you need help getting it to work. Your camper may have the original fridge, or it may have been changed by a prior owner to some other make or model. To help us know what you have, please give us the make and model of the fridge.
I see you posted a pic. That's great! . Please post a picture of the inside front of the fridge with the controls and an outside pic of the back of the fridge with the siding grill off so we can see the fridge system.
Once we know and see what you have, we can get into trying to help you get the fridge going or, if it needs more troubleshooting, get it to work.
Hope this helps.
John

I have the same model as you. Make sure the GFI receptacleto the left of the fridge is n't tripped, that was one of my issues initially. Also, make sure all wiring connections at the terminal block inside the fridge area are clean and tight. Hope this helps.

Hi Jen,
Your pics came through, good job!
Outside the camper is a lower vent panel directly behind the fridge. Remove the panel, take a few pics, and post the back side of the fridge as seen through that vent panel opening.
A couple of questions as you are saying you still cannot get the fridge to work.
1. Have you tried to start the fridge on gas, electric, or both?
2. How do you know the fridge is not working? Please explain what you see or hear to know it is not working.
Your fridge is an absorption fridge, not a freon compressor fridge like at home. When the fridge works correctly, it makes very little to no noise, and it can take 4 to 6 hours to cool it down. It removes heat from the food compartment, not pumping in cold air. That sounds odd, but that is how the absorption fridges work. It can be hard, if this is your first time with an RV fridge, to tell if an empty fridge is cooling unless you have a thermometer inside. Putting a small cup of water (4 oz in a plastic open-top butter tub, etc.) in the freezer; it should be frozen or starting to freeze in about 6 hours. Then you know for sure it is working.
Before trying to run the fridge for hours, when you take the vent panel off outside, look for any yellow residue powder or goo down low under the back of the fridge. If you find any, that is a sign of a cooling unit problem, and do not run the fridge. Send pictures of the yellow stuff, and we can go from there on what to do.
Hope this helps
John
