Mission Tires

The trailer we just purchased has Mission Tires on it. The trailer was never used but I read some of these tires stink. In fact I have read complaints about my of the trailer tires. What has been your experience?

Hi Nick,

We're on our second season with our Sunline running the original Mission tires. We probably have about 5,000 miles on them. No problems yet.

I have no intentions on replacing them until it's time. Then I'll probably replace them with Goodyear Marthons.

I suspect there my be some air pressure and speed issues in most of the complaints with tire seperation.

You're probably correct. I think most ST tires are note rated for speeds much over 65 mph. Also checking & maintaining tires at the proper pressure is critical.

Plus, ST tire are constructed / manufactured differently, from what I understand ST tires are constructed to allow side ways slippage, where standard (i.e., Passenger & LT) tires are made to grip.

Like anything, you’ll find pros and cons and individuals that hate them and some that love them.

I swear by Goodyear Marathons and would buy them any day over some other tire. My dad has the original set of Goodyear Marathons from his '92 car hauler and they still are holding up fine. He just bought new Marathon's this year anticipating a long trip to FL that never happened, but the old ones were kept. They've been garaged their whole lives and have no signs of checking whatsoever. Now the tread is just wearing down.

I have also seen the articles about the problems with the Marathon's. But, search the other tires and see how many articles there are on those. All tires will have their problems, but here's yet another happy customer for Goodyear's. Obviously Sunline needed to cut costs near the end here and started with tires. They got away from Marathon's in '98 and went to Maxxis, now Mission. Who knows, if they stayed in business another year, the new TT's may have come tireless .
